New York’s Next Attorney General Vows to Investigate Trump’s Dealings - James promises to ‘shine a light’ on Trump real estate deals - Immigrants, minorities under attack by Trump, James contends

Quote:
Letitia James, the newly elected Democratic attorney general of New York, promised during her acceptance speech Tuesday to investigate Donald Trump’s real estate dealings.

“New Yorkers, we can spot a con man,” James, the first African-American and the first woman elected to the office, said to a cheering crowd in Brooklyn. “We can spot a carnival barker. I will shine a light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings, and every dealing.”

James, the New York City Public Advocate, also promised to protect minorities and immigrants who she said are under attack by the Trump administration. Her predecessor, Barbara Underwood, is involved in numerous lawsuits challenging Trump policies in court and sued Trump’s personal charitable foundation alleging rampant violations of state law.

“At a time when we’re seeing such vitriol, and such hate on a national level, led by someone who is supposed to be a voice for all Americans, I am proud to stand here as a New Yorker who knows that it’s our diversity, our strength, our courage and our determination that makes us great,” James said.

Underwood wasn’t elected but filled in for Eric Schneiderman after the longtime state attorney general was brought down by allegations of abuse against multiple woman.

Wow, she's going to use her public position to target her political enemies.

It's like when the IRS targeted Tea Party groups.

No; she's going to do her job. Nothing you just posted is true.

Trump stole from children's cancer charity
Trump looted charity to pay legal bills, promote hotels
“persistently illegal conduct” related to the Donald J. Trump Foundation

And the IRS v. Teabaggers "scandal" you're referring to was a complete fabrication; it's "fake news".

She said she's "looking into his real estate deals", not his "charatiable foundation".

Nothing you said is applicable here.

Actually, what Piobaire said is highly applicable. Contrary to what you wrote, the article specifically mentions the charitable foundation case that James inherits as the new AG. She's also looking into many other things, including his civil rights violations.

She is not doing her job well. She is opening up any conviction to being thrown out based on her bias against the defendant.

I wouldn't necessarily say that; many investigations on the president have been open for years now & there are inexorably more coming in NY.

True, but the prosecutors in those cases have not publicly stated without seeing any hard evidence, even before starting their position that a potential future defendant is a con man and that he has "dark corners" in his businesses.

His 'business' was started by his ancestors using brothels.

She's properly identifying the target of an investigation and giving the reasons for it. Prosecutors do this all the time.

I for one have family in NY & I feel conned by Trump even without voting for him.

Only moron prosecutors would blab their investigations to the public.

-She has shown that she's prejudice.
-Her defamatory statements can be used against her in court.
-She has divulged the time in which she decided to start this real estate investigation.
-Timeline may become important if it's shown that she has no evidence yet.
-She's defaming him by implying he has done something wrong in his "real estate dealings".
-She's probably broken several lawyer ethics codes.

Trump dodged a New York initiative to install fire sprinklers & got at least one tennant killed. He also operates a chain of real-estate based business that represent innumerable conflicts of interest with the office of the president. His election appointment also coincided with neonazi graffiti all over the *NY* city.

There is no irrational haste on display here in the context of propaganda laced smear politics, she is simply stating the facts.
