One can find good will toward the trans community without believing lines like "the right is smugly proud of sending her back to her death". You don't know what the details of this particular case. The article sates that it's unclear what happened.

And when you do it's always the misguided "they need help because they are mentally ill, they only think they are the other gender because they are crazy so we should help them by 'curing' them of their delusion" kind of "good will".
