I really believe he can extend the dialogue slightly to the "left"---but I don't believe he has a chance of being elected.

Alright, I thought it was in this forum, but it was in PP&R. My apologies.

What's gonna be different this time?

In order for Bernie Sanders to win, a considerable segment of the population---especially outside the Northeast and Far West--will have to change their political beliefs to at least to a 90-degree extent.

As for me...he's my kind of guy. His economic ideas are pretty impractical, though.

Yes, a lot of people would have to come around to him for sure.

What's impractical about his economic ideas?

I wouldn't vote for Bernie if I believed he had a 100% chance of winning. He's lost my respect. Like I said in the PP&R thread, the time for "half measures" has passed. We can't keep kicking the can down the road. It might be better if Trump gets a second term. It would continue to fuel the revolution that needs to happen.

Bernie is going to seek to appeal to the altruism in all of us---without success, I believe.

Personally, I hope he appeals to enough Americans that have the thought "Holy s**t, Bernie was, and still is, right.. we CAN has nice things!!" and then he gets elected and begins reforming things for the actual benefit of the people vs. Billionaires and Americans get to know what it's like to live relatively worry free about their health because they'd now have a single payer Canadian style healthcare system. 8)

I believe he would be like Mondale and McGovern. He would win some Northeastern states....and that's it.

Unless there's some sort of juggernaut.

Why? What is unappealing about him to other areas of the country?

Most people in areas outside cities and "liberal pockets" are against single-payee health care. They believe it's "socialism." This is deeply embedded in them.

Most people don't want their taxes raised, either. That's embedded in them, too.

There will also be some people who believe he is, at 77 years of age, too old.

I believe he will get support----but not enough to get elected.

What about Kamala Harris - she's younger and has fresher ideas.
