Actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman aren’t the only high profile parents to be charged in an alleged college admissions cheating scam early Tuesday.

Federal court records unsealed in Boston name 50 people who have been indicted as part of the alleged nationwide scheme involving elite college and universities including Yale, Georgetown, the University of Southern California and Standford, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts.

“Dozens of individuals involved in a nationwide conspiracy that facilitated cheating on college entrance exams and the admission of students to elite universities as purported athletic recruits were arrested by federal agents in multiple states and charged in documents unsealed on March 12, 2019, in federal court in Boston,” the release says.

Looks like rich white folks and Asian "tiger moms" using every dirty trick to get their spoilt little brats into an Ivy league college

its not worth it anymore.. just go to a state school. imo any top 25 in us is a very good school... harvard can be a myth nowadays.. what do you expect it to be when it is indeed filled with white hipster lawn sunbatheing trust fund kids and rote learning asians and from now on LGBTQWERTYUIOP babies of all colors on all fronts.. juz kiddin.. they just want a bit of real life varietjes.. it depends on majors and faculties.. and it varies person by person there.. a lot of kids in high school were naive to believe it means everything .. oh wow k12 really sux then.. be more self aware if ur not that smart ... just enjoy life ... stop pushing yourself onto the brink of suicide.. interpret these words in a non chicken soup way.. it is well known that the us college admission system is as murky as the chinese economic system .. the admission office is like the forbidden city .. and worse than that its slowly becoming somewhat non meritocratic .. what goes on inside nobody knows.. they want you to play polo.. we dont have to play polo..

i mean the german technical universities are very good too . u get free or nearly free education up to like 28 years old or something, and land a good job in ikea. it does make it a bit more stagnant but they had their export surplus for years under merkel , so. turks can be studious as jews and are in nature secular anyways, like the persians in sweden.. they were born out of tengrixm and zoroastroanism.

france is basically insead supporting a nation of sorbonettes and bedouins .. bye.

among many of amuuurica's original sins, is the morally bankrupt meme of "one day i too'll be rich, and be able to bribe university officials to let my mediocre but rich kid into their tony institutions also, just like the other big people do." that is the sole reason there isn't really much outrage here over this kind of corruption.

Well there was an ulterior motive for posting this. Jared Kushner's (Trump's son-in-law) entry into Harvard is now also in the spotlight.
https://www.smh.com.au/world/north-amer ... 5144g.html

Given Trump's own father bribed a doctor to get Donald Trump Jnr out of the Vietnam war it wouldn't surprise me if this practice goes back to those days...

The Asian tiger parent legal action against Harvard borders on the ludicrous

The personality tests that many ambitious asian applicants to harvard medical school fail actually mean they will make poor doctors in the first place. This has nothing to do with grades alone.

compassion for their patients [IOW "bedside manner"] for one. a lot of docs being churned out nowadays could care less about their patients other than as cash cows, it is all about being in the secure part [upper] of the middle class.

Agree 100% with this. My wife is south asian and in her extended family there is an obsession with getting their kids into medical school, law school or engineering here in Australia. This actually means there is an overrepresentation of applicants from both south and east asians who are using it as a vehicle to gain class/financial status (nothing more). Our Australian universities also have medical interviews (this is actually called the Harvard model!!) where things such as narcissistic traits, compassion and empathy are tested. Evidence of sincerity to work in medical care is also based on volunteering work (not just a couple of weekends in a soup kitchen but more evidence of sustained/consistent volunteering with vulnerable groups/ at risk populations)

This might change your mind on the reasons why compassion is needed in medicine

professional; requirements

personal; testimony
