Even though I myself am Catholic, this priest just needs a reality check. Prejudice is just contradicting the teachings of God and IMO, God would be face-palming and calling this priest a sinner!

The priest in the article -- Father Dominic Valanmahal -- has a Facebook account with no mention of any previous training in biology, genetics, medicine or psychology. He is a 'charismatic' Roman Catholic priest under the Syro Malabar Diocese of Kanjirapally and serving as the Director of Marian Retreat Centre, Anakkara, Kerala, in south-west India. His other claim to fame seems to be faith-healing.

I thank God that Christianity is not monolithic.

John 9:1-3 (NIV)

[1] Now as Jesus was passing by, He saw a man blind from birth,

[2] and His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

[3] Jesus answered, "
Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God would be displayed in him..."

It seems to me that if God created us to be "on the spectrum", it was not because our parents sinned, but because He wanted His works to be displayed in us, in spite of us being "on the spectrum"!

Sounds nice, but why would he create sociopaths, narcissists, and psychopaths? :?

I dunno ... why don't you ask Him?

I already know why. :) When 'The Creator' created this world he abandoned it and allowed the corrupt nature of humanity to take over.

Or he simply does not exist and people are just born that way without any deliberate reason.

Every forest has its deer and its wolves. Sociopaths, Narcissists, and Psychopaths are definetly our wolves.

I’ve often thought that various religions should have higher standards for religious leaders as far as education goes. Having some background in science, psychology, history, and philosophy wouldn’t hurt.

The Presbyterian pastors that I've met have undergraduate degrees in Humanities, Liberal Arts or STEM. All are required to have earned a Masters' Degree as well. They don't ordain just any shmoe off the street who claims to have been called by God.

I went to college with someone who was going to become a pastor. It was exciting to me because people go to religious leaders with all sorts of problems, and I’ve seen some issues stem from leaders not being properly educated when it comes to dealing with such problems.

Of course, not sounding like a moron when giving a sermon wouldn’t hurt, either...

This story sounds a little like "fake news".

Apparently the video that was floating around the internet was a "fake".

This is a six-to-seven-year-old video, which was edited, manipulated and circulated on the social media by some unknown persons. The voice and body language are not matching.”

A police complaint has been lodged with the Kerala Police in India.

It baffles me why anyone would seek marital counseling from someone who is forbidden to marry, advice on raising a child from someone who has never had children, or career counselling from someone who never held down a job other than that of "Priest", "Cardinal", "Bishop", Archbishop" or "Pope".

Makes about as much sense as a male gynecologist.

And it makes about as much sense as a blind man taking in a silent movie.
