It's possible, even in the city - 46% of Berlin (total 220,400 acres) is green space/forrest and water.

I wonder if "terraforming" complexes are something that could actually be made or if they are purely science fiction. It is said that emissions from factories play a big part in global warming, so it would be nice if some kind of large scale atmospheric devices could be created to counteract that.

I'm doing my part by letting all the trees sprouting up along my fence line grow. Maybe I can have them declared a national forest so the city can't come after me.

Another way to green up and clean up the air.

As Magz mentioned Australia is quite arid.

We have a thin coastal northern plain that is sub-tropical and a thin southern coastal plain that is Mediterranean climate (the latter is where 80% of the population live) and the bulk of inland is arid/dry with little rainfall.

There has been various attempts to introduce farming and stock inland but that has just made things worse for the topsoil.

The other issue is the dry soils lack water so even if you introduce fast growing colonising species the lack of water means you can't establish lower plants that lock in nitrogen (mosses/lichen/fungi) so there will be little nutrition.

Arid plant species are low biomass and slow growing.

I like the idea pf planting trees. Trees are the lungs of the earth.

This makes great sense. In addition to all of the dirty stuff we release into the air, we keep cutting down trees. It would mean some form of population control though. The more people we have on the earth, the more space needed to put them.

With climate change we may have no choice but to plant mutant fast growing weeds to trap carbon

How can carbon be harmful when V'ger clearly identified us as being carbon based units?

It is when it's leaking from the carbon based units...free carbon...we need to enslave it back

We need trees they are the lungs of the earth as well as homes for all sorts of wildlife from the tiniest to the largest.
I love watching wildlife documentaries.

I keep saying plant two trees for every tree you cut down that way there will still be a forest.
