Fantastic role model with the courage of her convictions that so many people don't have.

The concise and thoughtful words of an Aspie.

I bet it takes her weeks to write each speech. You have to admire her drive to do her best to make a difference.

Greta Thunberg nominated for Nobel Peace Prize 2019 for climate activism.

Does she have any in english without the voice over? or in Swedish with subtitles it would be nice to hear her real voice, I suppose I can do some digging myself though. I don't really like voice overs for serious or passionate topics, not sure why it bothers me so much.

It should be added that she comes from a very famous Swedish family and her mum is a fairly glam opera singer and she has made her whole family give up flying....

I can so just imagine that conversation. True relentless aspie style.

When I saw this posted I questioned it's authenticity for a split second, but just saw the headlines this morning. So cool! 8)

I just noticed a mention of Greta being one of us today, and found this thread.

Six Cheers!

There's a first student strike today, about 2 hours from here. We have wet snow, so I don't want to take my Earth Ball, and it might upstage a small group, but I hope to join them soon.

She's being manipulated and used, by her rich and famous parents and global NGO's. People don't get a global platform unless the world powers want it. Well in fact people get deleted from YouTube, Facebook and lots of other sites if they speak out against wars and stuff like that.

I just decided what bothers me about this. I don't know how the "news" that she has AS was broken, but even if it's true, it seems to me that to the world at large, this could actually discredit her to some extent. Such as, "There's this 16-year old girl who's encouraging kids to cut school and protest against Climate Change, and BTW she happens to be one of those weirdos and probably doesn't have any friends so she's doing this to compensate."

Her diagnosis, if true, should have absolutely NOTHING to do with the message she's communicating. Zero.

You've been manipulated by conspiracy theorists. Come on, credit where credit is due.

^^ There is a strong and steady erosion of dissenting opinions from capitalist-owned platforms. However, when a really compelling figure like Greta appears, they can't afford to appear as censors. The media thus looks free, but continues to frustrate most realists.

I see this from one angle, message matters rather than who is saying it.

But her whole argument is if she wasn’t autistic she wouldn’t have developed this special interest and wouldn’t have pursued if it with this passion or had the vision to think outside the box.
