^surely a futures market in murder would be a good wheeze for making money out of ones tragic & unnatural demise?
And just think of all the insurance and derivatives trading off of the back of it.

You 'younguns" don't realise it's all just history repeating itself...the same outrage happened over this movie many many years ago

I'm sure the wealthy folk in the republican party will get over themselves with this latest liberal "propaganda film"

Sure, they can use them like parsley. Garnished BY wages...now, isn't that a thought.

I suppose I'd be lighter fare at best; there's not enough there to make into anything filling. A pity I am not a reporter or a politician; what if we run out of baloney,

I don't see any mention of controversy regarding Eat the Rich.

I know that Cannibal Holocaust was very controversial though.

Also perhaps Death Race 2000.

I was around during the Margaret Thatcher era when Britain was lumped with an ultra-conservative tory government.

In the 1980s the film was attacked by the British establishment for its critique of Thatcherite upper class society. Oxford University historian Norman Stone, famously condemned the movie in a Sunday Times opinion piece as being "worthless and insulting" and "riddled with left wing bias"

This is about … wealthy, elite liberals who kidnap right-wingers.

So, this movie portrays elite liberals as evil.

It's based on the book, "The Most Dangerous Game"

The context of the movie was different (whatever it's distant origins) - please refer to my earlier post as the movie was aimed at Thatcher's right wing conservative elite, in Britain there was plenty of television satire in the late 1980s most famous was Ben Elton's "Young ones" which poked fun at the conservative elite. In Australia the "Doug Anthony All Stars" and puppet comedy "Rubbery figures" copied the format and caricatured the conservative elements in Australian society. I grew up on this stuff.

Probably both movies stem from The Most Dangerous Game.

Hardly any films are original these days.

Waiting for the movie where the left-wing radicals and the right-wing radicals figure out the the very rich are playing them both against each other in order to stay in power, then team up to overthrow them.

Actually there was a series of films that came out several years ago called "the Hunger Games" that had a similar theme.

^ I liked the twist at the end of the last one where main girl realised the resistance leader is a greater threat to the people than the current tyrant.
