Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown addressed his past extramarital relationship with U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris in his weekly column Saturday, saying he may have boosted the presidential hopeful's career.

"Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago," Brown wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle.
"Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was [California] Assembly speaker. And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco."

What a joke. Out of all the women proposed to take the vice presidency, he picks the clown.

See you guys 4 years from now.

Adultery isn't a criminal offense.

People make mistakes. At least she didn't repeat her adultery over and over throughout her life, as the current occupant of the White House has.

How can you be a president but be okay with adultery? How can his voters? Because he has a token evangelical for a VP?

If we're going to be outraged at base immoral behavior we might as well start at the top.

mistakes are a one-off, not repeatedly and in the public eye apparently. that's not a mistake.

second, i'm not making comparisons, in fact what you are saying about the *current* occupant just emphasizes my issue: i just hate how people in positions of trust and authority openly flout basic decency or even break human rights laws repeatedly, everywhere. throughout history too of course.

i shouldn't have posted here - my only comment is about that, not any relevant politics.

true. better than a lot of the world where compromised morality may mean something like having killed innocent servants (As Cyberdad mentioned about a Malaysian royal family member), or tortured journalists and photographers, or massacred 100s of protesters.

total digression on my part.

She practically lived on Fox during Obama's two terms, attacking him every chance she had. I have no problem with foot soldiers criticizing their commander when it's warranted, it's more a matter of her forgetting whose side she was on.

I'm guessing that Kamala Harris is unlikely to convince either die-hard Republicans or die-hard Democrats to change their vote, as her political positions are quite "standard" Democrat. So she is - as some have already labeled her - a fairly safe bet for the Democratic Party.

It is more interesting to see if Kamala Harris as a VIP pick would lead to higher turnout among Black voters than in 2016...

I mean...didn't she brag about all the people she put away for weed possession, then giggle when asked whether she'd ever used it herself? Questionable moral compass does not seem like a new thing for her.

Her parents are south Asian (mom) and Jamaican (dad).  She identifies as black.

Does it matter?

I can see the Indian but had no idea of the Jamaican? Her niece who works as Harris's campaign manager (Meena) looks pretty caucasian for somebody with a black parent?

Does she really have much links with the African American community? she seems like quite a Karen
