Can someone explain what the problem with Ms. Barrett joining the Supreme court is.

Its not rocket science Bric
Coney-Barret replaces the progressive Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s and every man and his dog knows she is a staunch conservative, and will soon be voting on upcoming cases Affordable Care Act, abortion rights, and voting rights.

Barrett’s confirmation means that the Supreme Court sports a 6-3 conservative majority, a bias that will remain in place for decades.

Ah, so it's simply an "entitlement" issue, where the progressives feel they should "own" the seat (and potentially a majority on the bench)...

I was worried there was some serious problem I hadn't heard about that was causing all the fuss.

Well there are more serious theories on why Trump is stacking the supreme court with his cronies
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-lays-plan- ... 54627.html

But these plans are yet to play out...

And what are the theories regarding Biden wanting to expand the supreme court from 9 to 12 to fill it with his cronies?

I don't think that's his idea though, he is being pressured by fellow democrats to commit to judicial reform if he wins.

In all seriousness I think the mountain that this is getting amplified into is which party 'won' by getting a nominee in at all and it's a lot of sour grapes over Mitch McConnell being every bit as duplicitous as if he were on the other side of the isle (he's like the Republican's Pelosi).

Does anyone have case-law references where she's gone partisan hack on the job?

In a worst case scenario, one can forget about gay marriage being legalized as well...

Like I said, the MAGA crowd wants the U.S. to be like it was in the 50s.

This is good news.

We got rid of that partisan RBG.

Her decisions were so lopsided that they called her "the most liberal judge".

Actually, Sotomayor is the most liberal.

I’m really going to miss Susan Collins if she’s voted out.

This is good news to me, because it might finally end the ACA.

Biden wants to make millions of poor people suffer by reinstating the ACA individual mandate.

The ACA set a nasty legal precedent that non-commerce (not having health insurance) is commerce, and the government can tax you (regulate you) for non-commerce. This is a tremendous loss in freedom.

This is not good news to me.
Regardless of legal precedent, if the ACA is repealed, that will screw millions of americans out of their health insurance. And Republicans have made it clear over the last 12 years that despite their constant demonization of the ACA, they do not have any solutions when it comes to america's broken healthcare system. If you get rid of it, I could see a lot more americans getting on board with universal healthcare--not more of these corporate-friendly non-solutions the right and center have been putting forward.

I think we might be safe on gay marriage at this point. Unlike abortion, conservatives have mostly admitted defeat on gay marriage. Now it's yet another social issue theyve tried to sweep under the rug bc their position was so laughably indefensible.
Legal protections for trans people are very much in jeopardy though. As well as protections for other queers against being fired by their employers for not being straight enough.

They see LGBT as “potential pedophiles”, they will try something.

Next, they will ban premarital and non-procreational sex. Then it’s back to Prohibition. Next, reinstation of segregation and slavery.

Yeah now that you mention it I wouldn't put it past them.
They don't need to reinstate slavery though. Theyve created a robust slave economy in America's prisons through the war on drugs. They'll be sure to keep that in place though. And they'll also be sure to hold up laws forbidding former slaves-- err, i mean, former felons from voting.
