I find that “recalls” like this reminds me of “shoppers remorse.”

I think the recall was a waste of time for one reason:

Whoever won the recall has to campaign for a full term next year. In this case, it’s Newsom.

When the backers of a recall election have no single candidate to run against the incumbent, and can instead field only a random collection of fools, freaks, and fascist-wannabes, the defeat of the recall effort is a virtual certainty.

As a side note, is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how quiet this thread has become since the results of the recall election were announced?

I think there are multiple factors at play that don’t all have to do with the topic. Think board personalities and individual needs. The stuff that happens any time a mod has had to be in a thread.

It was a huge waste of money and as a taxpayer I’ve been quite angry.

Pfft!

What is $300,000,000 to a party whose core values now include "Owning the liberals"?

 ↑ I am expressing sarcasm.

Nope!  I feel no sadness for the outcome of the election at all!

What freedom do they love? The freedom to contract Covid for the sake of insane political or religious ideology? Then the freedom to infect others with it? If that's the definition of freedom, then I want nothing to do with it.

It is a sad day only for the defeated, not for the victors.

People get what they voted for.
Time will tell if it is an overall good for the community involved.
I haven't a clue what social issues were involved, so I don't have an opinion, here. 8)

It pleases me that "sarcasm" can still be expressed on this website.
I am not being sarcastic or ironic, seriously. 8)

As insane as perverting the Truth about the origins of the Wuhan virus to cater for political intrigue and hyper-butt protecting? 8O

I love my freedom. I care a lot about my freedom.

As a voter in this state I cast the vote that I felt would best preserve the freedoms I care most about.

Neither candidate or party, after all, advocates unlimited freedom to whatever your mood sways you to do. There will always be laws because any one person’s freedom ends when it interferes with someone else’s freedom. The idea that only one set of policies represents freedom is ridiculous.

Today is a good day for the freedom loving citizens of California. In my personal opinion, weighing all the different types of freedom a state governor can affect, freedom won.
