If if weren't for the war being so deadly serious that would be hilarious,

Ukrainian authorities say citizens don't need to declare captured Russian tanks and military equipment for tax purposes
https://www.businessinsider.com/ukraine ... ome-2022-3

Quote:
Ukrainian authorities have reassured citizens that they don't need to declare captured Russian tanks or any equipment they pick up as personal income.

"Have you captured a Russian tank or armored personnel carrier and are worried about how to declare it? Keep calm and continue to defend the Motherland!" a statement from the Ukrainian National Agency on Corruption Prevention seen by Interfax-Ukraine said.

Hmm,

"Keep calm and defend the Motherland!"

Should be a tshirt and a hoodie.

Makes sense, some farmers might be finding quite the windfall stuck in their fields. This isn't exactly the best time of year for armoured manoeuvres in that area.

Years ago a B-52 crashed into a mountain (Roundtop) here and there was debris everywhere. Some of the locals went on a salvage mission and carried some stuff back to their homes. When the military showed up they wanted their stuff back.
Not sure if it was all returned.

Remember that stuff you learned about gravity and flotation buoyancy in science class in school?
Yeah, it wasn't merely there to cause homework ...

Or, the tl;dr version,

Ooops.

(I love how that picture tells a story without words, note broken boards on left edge)

trying to imagine the headache of figuring out what category to file a "found" tank under. vehicles? hardware? if it's broken, is it stationary heavy machinery?

I've always wanted a German Panzer tank.
A 1/6 scale was the closest I got.

Years ago (nothing to do with the current invasion) there was a certain piece of Soviet military equipment stranded in the Ukraine that was being offered for sale on E-bay.

With photo.

A shiny gleaming silver ...Tupolev 95 "Bear" bomber. Sitting on a tarmac somewhere in the Ukraine. If I had been Elon Musk I might have snapped it up!

One of the oddest planes ever built it has swept back wings like a jet, but has propellers. In fact each of its four engines has two counter rotating sets of propellers.A turboprop. Kind of a poor man's version of the B52 its smaller than its American equivalent, but still a huge plane. And more bad-ass looking than the B52. Perfect as a private plane for a rich rap star to tool around in.
