I'm defending Will Smith. What Chris Rock did was clearly bullying.

I am also defending Amber Heard.

Many Americans were typical and went ga-ga over this celebrity scandal, and now they act as if it's never happened. Guess the Johnny/Amber trial of nonsense took their attention away from it.

This is a pretty good video on it.

Interesting. Sounds like his latest role cut to close to home emotionally (playing a dad, being a dad, and having issues with his real life dad)and pushed him over the edge.

What do you think possessed Will Smith to do such a reckless thing and slap Chris Rock?

My theory is maybe he thought he was doing the right thing by hitting Rock and thought he would get more respect for it perhaps?

My guess, no thought, instinct. Call it traditional gender roles, call it toxic masculinity, your choice. Somebody making a joke about your wife's medical condition that is a sore point for her.

This is similar to what happens in bars etc every night. The only but big difference was it was one of the biggest stars doing it at the Oscars.

And for the conventional wisdom that it was just a minor joke unless you have alopecia. Remember Jada Pinkett is an actress, looks are crucially important in that profession.

My theory is he didn't like what Chris Rock said about his wife ie "keep my wife's name out of your f***** mouth". End of story.

But at first he was laughing at it.

And even if he did not like it why go that route and hit Rock in public?

Because it hadn't sunk in yet.

It was a dumb move for Smith to slap Rock at the Oscars.

Rock chose not to press charges. The Academy banned Smith for 10 years.

I feel this will all blow over, eventually…….like most things Hollywood.

It was merged with a second thread that was started about a month after the first thread ran dry.

What’s most important is what Chris Rock thinks.
