LOL!  Quite the opposite, in fact!

Going off track a bit but what failings in TOR makes it easy to zero in on users?
While certainly not as easy as an open forum for the exchange of ideas, the very fact that TOR exists, and that people are accessing TOR makes it easier to find and track those who use TOR than most people think.

Sure, it is not as if anyone could switch on a commercial-grade "TOR-Tracker" and know immediately what each user has on their hard drives, but the methods and equipment used by law-enforcement, both foreign and domestic, are far beyond what most civilians have available.

There were two high profile cases recently, one in Australia and one in the UK where two serious criminals using TOR were unable to be found via the traditional electronic methods. Both were found after scouring Google for similarities. One was found are manually brute forcing Google images for matching EXIF data and the other was caught by typing characteristic phrases the individual used on his posts into Google and linking him back to posts made on a run of the mill internet forum asking about car modifications.

It's tricky to know what really goes on behind the scenes. I'm thinking the more serious the criminal the more sophisticated the techniques and software used. Not impossible but certainly very difficult.

Certainly, the more sophisticated terrorists are going to be more difficult to track; but when some clueless mook -- one whose idea of network security is to turn his monitor away from the door -- joins the conversation, mistakes will eventually be made, and the entire conspiracy comes down.  The average Joe-on-the-street rarely hears about how such discoveries are made, but only about the terrorist acts and the subsequent arrests and convictions themselves.

As cited before, it is the "Lone Wolf" who passively absorbs hate-filled ideologies and keeps them to himself that most easily evades law enforcement.

"Lone Wolves" are always harder to pre-empt. Every group of terrorists or criminal organisation has the one weak link (usually an impulsive or stupid individual among them) that allows the police to get their foot in the door. Lone wolves on the other than might have no weak links. They can and regularly do fly under the radar with every single possible leaking of their plans well under their control.

Attacks by lone wolves will probably become more common.

Fox News has suddenly gone quiet on "The Great Replacement" theory after Buffalo shooting.

As details of the Buffalo mass shooting emerged over the weekend, much of the media focused on the shooter’s self-stated motivation: his belief in "The Great Replacement" theory, the racist notion that white Americans are being deliberately replaced through POC immigration.

Over at Fox News, however, there was barely any mention of the white gunman's reasoning for opening fire at a supermarket, killing 10 people and wounding three more, in a predominantly Black area.

The absence of coverage of the motive was revealing, given Fox News' most popular host, Tucker Carlson, has pushed "The Great Replacement" theory in more than 400 of his shows -- and has arguably done more than anyone in the US to popularize the racist conspiracy.

As soon as Fox thinks it dies down, Carlson will be back with his insane racist diatribe of racial replacement. What Carlson and others refuse to see beyond the color of third world immigrant's skin color is that they come from very conservative societies. So, no, they aren't going to automatically become Democrat voters, unless Republicans give them a reason to by throwing their continual support behind racists and nativists.

T. Imagine if this shooter used a TOR setup group and the government could not access his online statements.

That's a fair point, a lot of radicalised youth get their heads filled on the dark web. But this particular racist shooter was known to authorities and his school and yet his parents (not unlike mommy Riittenhouse) still purchased weapons for him.

His parents should also be held responsible.

Regarding the police response, some on the NAACP are asking why the police tried to nicely speak to him following his shooting like he was lost and needed directions? Aren't they supposed to use snipers to actively take out a shooter?

He'd rather cut out his own tongue. Unfortunately, too many Republicans would rather do that, too, than to go against such a MAGA rallying cry like "the great replacement."

It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about Fnord. Many people simply use TOR as a VPN, mainly to access material that's restricted to certain regions or restricted in certain regions. It wouldn't be a matter of trying to track TOR users, it would be a matter of trying to track down a source producing illegal material. With the exception being totalitarian regimes like China and North Korea who might have a law against using TOR itself.

LOL!  People still do not get it.  It is the individuals they have a hard time tracking, not the groups -- they can only backtrack those individuals after they do something.

What are your REAL reasons for that?

I don't know his reasons but there is this old largely forgotten concept known as "The Price of Freedom". Originally it meant accepting that soldiers will lose their lives so that America will not be subjugated to a foreign authoritarian power. The same concept should apply domestically. It can be argued that allowing open advocacy of bigotry will save more lives than it costs. What can't be argued is that allowing open advocacy of bigotry, has, does, and will have a price in destruction, injury, and death. So why accept the price? After all, we do not allow 100 percent freedom of speech. Especially as a Jewish person, it would be more than emotionally satisfying to see people like this person jailed, their mouths zipped closed, their hands permanently tied down so they can not speak, type, or write again. The reason is it is my belief with plenty of historical precedents that the ban won't be limited to open advocacy of bigotry. It is human nature that once we have given ground it becomes easier and easier to give in more and more. SCOTUS, not just the current packed court but justices from all political stripes have understood this, and have repeatedly upheld "hate speech" as a protected right.

I just don’t believe sweeping statements such as “ all Democrats are commies” are useful.

I might be “slightly to the right of AOC.” I’m certainly to the right of Chairman Mao. But to ascribe such extreme characteristics as “pedophile” to someone who merely disagrees with you politically is just dead wrong.

Like Biden said, we must learn to respect each other.

it would seem there are some 75 million Americans who need several more centuries before their descendants might begin to respect everyone.

I feel like many of those 75 million should learn to think for themselves.

Many are stuck with their party, no matter who their “leader” is.

Party, rather than person, is problematic.

Party or person, rather than policy, can also be problematic.
