It will be strange not having a Queen of England. We've used that reference my entire life. She's been the queen my entire life. For better or for worse, and I know there will always be different opinions, she was an impactful presence.

Won't Camilla be called queen?

Queen Consort. But she won't be the Queen. It will be a very long time, if ever, before there's another Queen of England (United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms).

'Consort' is just the technicality of the type of Queen she now is. She will be referred to as Queen Camilla, and already is being referred to as that on telly when the commentators are talking about the new King & Queen

Camilla's the Queen----like Queen Elizabeth's mother was the Queen to George VI. She's not a "ruling Queen" in the sense that Elizabeth II was the "ruling queen."

Very similar to the First Lady (or First Gentleman) of the United States.

I was suspicious that the last people the Queen saw were the old Prime Minister and the new Prime Minister. I don't trust either of them.

Toxic Tory handshake of death.

Biden better be worried about the imminent 'golden handshake'.

Gosh that's a long wait. I suppose a coronation takes ages for them to organise, and they want to mourn the Queen for a length of time.

Well that was sweet. I just watched a video of people at Buckingham Palace greeting King Charles. He looked nervous at first because he's never really been popular, but everyone was so kind and sympathetic, some kissed him (they aren't supposed to), that he looked happy and comforted when he'd met them all.

I wonder what precisely kept Prince Philip from being King Philip.

He refused the title because he wanted his wife to have her birthright and not take it away from her. He was her steadfast supporter.

Well King Charles II will take over the Hasburg-Saxe-Coburg-Windsor line
Alle grüßen den neuen König

His son Wilhelm will be next in line.

Good news for Meghan is her children can now have titles
HRH princess Lilibert and HRH prince Archibald

* King Charles III, not II.

* Lilibet, not Lilibert.

* Archie, not Archibald. :wink:

Lilibet was originally the Queen Elizabeth's nickname among family.

That rings a bell.

But I also read; The Duke of Edinburgh was not granted the title of king because of a rule that states the husband of a ruling queen is called prince consort, just as wives of kings are typically referred to as queen consort.

That would explain why Queen Victoria's husband's title was also prince. Prince Albert.
