Margaret Sanger advanced the slaughter of children, especially minorities, long before we had AR-15s. Why aren't you railing against the Eugenics still taking place in this country? Is it because it happens one at a time? As long as babies are dying right and left while still in the womb, I'm just not feeling like somebody who wants gun restrictions is operating in the best interest of the public.

This is a dangerous world for everyone. I am for prosecuting merchants and parents who allow guns to wind up in the hands of known mental health patients and kids.

What does Margaret Sanger have to do with anything today? And who is promoting eugenics today, and how?
By the way, it was conservative Preston Bush who had wanted to pay black Americans to be sterilized, so eugenics is hardly a phenomenon that had just been promoted by individuals on the left.

Abortion primarily targets minorities, Planned Parenthoods are strategically located where there is minority heartache.
Our children have been targets for murder long before the AR-15. My comment was made towards the comment above mine, to the member who said that the USA cared more for their guns than their children. Children have been dying in the US at a staggering rate for years, even without abortions. They are killed by parents, foster parents, random lunatics, and of course doctors, etc. It's just that liberals don't sit up and speak out until it happens quicker. One at a time is still an atrocity.

Believe it or not, I tend to lean pro-life. But if you're going to be pro-life, you have to go all the way and support government programs that house, clothe, and feed poor people, including children. Being truly pro-life means supporting universal health care, so no one has to choose between going bankrupt over medical bills or death. It also means supporting a living wage so people can easily support children.
I'm sorry, but I think the notion of abortion as a means of eugenics is a baseless fantasy. If you want to stop "minority heartache" that allegedly leads to abortion, then among other things, take a stand against voter disenfranchisement, which the right has been behind for generations, and yet denies ever happens. After the 2020 election, Trump and many of his fanatical base had wanted to disregard the vote in predominantly black cities like Detroit on the false charge of voter fraud.

All the programs in the world don't remove the dangers of pregnancy health threatening and deadly complications can arise, sometimes abortion is the safest course of action. Therefore, it is a medically necessary procedure.

Aside from that people who don't want to be pregnant are likely to terminate at the first signs of pregnancy long before there is even a fetus, so I don't see why that should be of concern.

I agree. As I said, I lean toward pro-life, but I'm hardly a zealot. I understand the necessity of abortion as a medical practice.

You're allowed to think whatever you like and verbalize it, isn't free speech wonderful?

I'm for everything the government has to offer for kids and old people. The inbewteeners, like me, are on their own. And I'm good with that. I love my little $15/hr job that I drive an hour one way to reach. If I want more I'll need to get a better education in my field and I'll need to fund it, on my own. Because that's what 'adulting' looks like to me.

This shooting is terrible. But, it's not enough to make me surrender my guns. You must realize that that will never happen, right?

If so called inbetweeners are without employment, are disabled, or are are single parents, then there's no reason why the government shouldn't help them.
You've been listening to too many right wing talking heads. No one is plotting to take your guns, unless you're mentally ill or have a criminal record. There is no conspiracy to disarm the law abiding public. Though I personally think no civilian needs to own an automatic weapon made exclusively to kill other people.

That’s right.

The Big Bad Libs aren’t going around knocking on doors to take away people’s guns.

I agree about the automatic weapons. Even many “liberals” own rifles, and hunt with them.

And it was just that "they're coming for our guns" idiocy that had inspired that blowhard Alex Jones to claim school shootings were government false flags in order to justify taking firearms.

I don't believe school shootings are false flags. I do believe that senseless shootings in general have become the price for having the right to bear arms. It never used to be that way. People handled poverty and frustration much better than this crazy generation does. Now, all it takes is a hangnail for someone under 30 to go off the deep end and shoot up a school. And even then, lots more people are killed by the regular guns (not military style).

You're soft. A 'disability' is no longer the inability to walk, move, etc... It's all about nervousness. If a person is nervous they want 100% disability. When energy expenditure is very good for psychological wellbeing.

I'm soft? I think you believe I'm on disability, whereas I'm not. No, I'm just very empathetic.
Nervousness? Do you mean anxiety? I have a friend on disability who, among other psychological disorders, suffers from anxiety, and I can attest his condition goes beyond mere nervousness. His anxiety can be absolutely crippling, making holding down a job unlikely. And even if I didn't know someone with this disability, I'm not going to judge somebody else just because I haven't experienced what he or she lives with every day. The conservative politicians who attack people on disability because they're just "nervous" are heartless and lack human empathy and sympathy, and appeal to the worst in their constituents by working them up into a lynch mob mentality complete with torches and pitchforks.

Colorado Springs LGBTQ club shooting suspect identifying as non-binary in court documents

Quote:
The suspect in the shooting at Club Q, a Colorado Springs LGBTQ nightclub, is now identifying as non-binary, according to court filings filed Tuesday.

"Anderson Aldrich is non-binary. They use they/them pronouns, and for the purposes of all formal filings, will be addressed as Mx. Aldrich," a footnote in a court filing reads.

Every subsequent mention of the suspect uses the prefix, "Mx," a prefix commonly used by transgender, gender-nonconforming and nonbinary in place of Mr., Mrs. and Ms. Documents filed Monday, however, refer to the suspect with he/him pronouns.

Interesting turn of events.

Reaction:

Maybe some internalized self hatred ? Or maybe they've been shunned in the community and sought revenge ? Or maybe it was some sort of relationship dispute ? Or maybe they're bs-ing and mocking trans/non-binary people with this move? Unlikely this is another Ontario schoolteacher scenario, though. Probably simpler.

Details are coming to light about the alleged gunman who killed five people at an LGBTQ nightclub

Quote:
The suspect in the mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado had a tumultuous upbringing in which he was bullied as a teenager and raised for a time by his grandmother, according to an emerging portrait of the alleged gunman pieced together by CNN.

Anderson Lee Aldrich ended up in the care of his grandmother as his mother struggled with a string of arrests and related mental health evaluations, according to court records and an interview with a family member.

The suspect’s grandmother, who a relative described as his primary caretaker, declined to be interviewed by CNN.

Aldrich was born in May of 2000 under the name Nicholas Brink, and is the son of Laura Voepel and Aaron Brink, who married in 1999. Neither parent could be reached for comment. His father filed for divorce in September 2001 in Orange County, California, citing irreconcilable differences. In his initial petition, he requested legal custody and visitation rights but asked that the court grant full physical custody to Voepel. Voepel stated in a 2007 filing that her son had had no contact with his father.

Aldrich’s father was a mixed martial arts fighter and a porn actor who spent time in federal prison for illegally importing marijuana, according to court documents, interviews, and an entertainment website.

About a year before Aldrich was born, Brink pleaded guilty in 1999 to a misdemeanor domestic battery charge and received a suspended sentence, according to the San Diego County Superior Court. Federal court records state that the victim in that case was Voepel, who was described as his girlfriend.

Voepel, the daughter of California Assemblyman Randy Voepel, was granted sole legal and physical custody of her son in 2007. In May of that year, Voepel stated in court records that she was unemployed and engaged with a new baby on the way, in addition to Aldrich, who was six years old at the time.

In 2009, Aldrich’s mother received three years of probation for convictions of public intoxication and falsely reporting a crime to police. The false report conviction stemmed from a 2008 incident in Murrieta, California in which police responded to a reported home invasion and found Voepel lying on her bed with her hands and legs bound with duct tape. Voepel initially told police a man had put string around her neck, bound her with tape and placed a knife on her chest. She admitted the following day, however, that she had been under the influence of narcotics and fabricated the incident because “she was lonely and wanted attention,” a police report states.

In 2010, Voepel underwent court-ordered mental health treatment in Riverside County, California that stemmed from those cases, according to court records obtained by CNN.

The records show  Voepel sought custody of her then-10-year-old son — the age Aldrich would have been at the time. A document filed later noted that Voepel said her son had begun living with her and that she planned to seek medical, welfare and food stamp assistance.

It was unclear during what periods Aldrich lived with his grandmother who, according to public records, maintained residences in the same areas where her daughter and grandson lived in California, Texas and Colorado.

While in Texas, Aldrich’s mother continued to struggle with the law  and mental health issues. A relative who spoke to CNN on the condition of anonymity described Voepel as “sweet” but also as having a “tumultuous life.”

In 2012, she allegedly used a lighter to start a fire in her room at the Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, according to a police report. Voepel, who was rescued by a hospital staffer, initially denied setting the fire, but security footage showed that she was the only person in her room when the blaze began, according to the police report.

A licensed psychologist concluded that she suffered from severe borderline personality disorder and alcohol dependence, among other issues, records show. According to court documents, she was originally charged with arson, but pleaded no contest to a reduced offense of criminal mischief in August 2013. She was sentenced to five years of community supervision.

Following his mom’s struggles, Aldrich was apparently having troubles of his own with at least some of his peers. In 2015, he  was the subject of an online bullying page on a parody website. The site, which resembles Wikipedia, has photos of Aldrich as a teenager and uses offensive slurs to mock his  weight and accuse him of engaging in illegal activity.

The site derided an apparent attempt by Aldrich’s grandmother to raise money for him to travel to Japan with classmates.  A screenshot of a fundraising appeal says “Make a dream come true for a young man who has survived many bad knocks over his young life.”  The fundraising goal was not reached, according to the post.

A history of revisions on the page shows that the bullying posts about him were updated several times over a five-month period in 2015. The page, which was first reported by the Washington Post, is still active.

Later that same year, just before his 16th birthday, the teen legally changed his name from Nicholas F. Brink to Anderson Lee Aldrich. A reason for the name change, also first reported by The Post, was not given.

Aldrich later moved to Colorado Springs where he lived with his grandmother. His mother lived in a rented room in a house nearby. Last year, Aldrich livestreamed a video from his mother’s Facebook page purportedly showing himself inside that house during a stand-off with police in the wake of the alleged bomb threat.

Leslie Bowman, who owns the home where the standoff took place and where Aldrich’s mother had been renting a room, said she screen recorded the video, which has since been deleted, and provided it to CNN.

The brief video shows a few seconds of an agitated young man — identified by Bowman as Aldrich — wearing a helmet and some type of body armor, and challenging law enforcement to breach the house where he had holed up.

He ends the video with what seems like a message to law enforcement outside: “So, uh, go ahead and come on in, boys! Let’s f**king see it!”

The video does not actually show any officers outside the house and it’s not clear whether Aldrich had any weapons.

Empathy is great, incapacitating others can be deadly. Have you had a good look at the whack job who committed this crime? He could probably be classified as one of the 'anxiety' crew. Overweight, over indulged, over age momma dependent, all kinds of gender issues (I experience gender issues, so don't say I'm prejudiced) and it all goes hand in hand with someone who should have been ejected from the nest. Perhaps a group home would have given him a place to live, but removed his ability to save enough money to buy firearms. SOFT! And I really hope you don't start defending his 'mental illness' or you'll be no better than the conservative deniers. SOFT!

I am guessing BS-ing as mockery, since it says they are only identifying as non-binary since the charges. That to me seems a little suspicious.

What's with all your gloating? Even if they are truly non-binary as in identified as that before the charges as well and it isn't ruled a hate crime 5 people are still dead because of them. There is nothing funny about that.

As a matter of fact, I am not empathetic toward murderers like this one, as plenty of people who have his hypothetical concerns never hurt a soul. But I am empathetic toward those who are in need of help, which is completely different.
And from what I understand, the shooter had been raised in a far right wingnut home, and that his grandfather is an election denier who got his a$$ handed to him during the mid terms in Arizona. So, no, it's not because he's a mamma's boy, but because of the ideology he had been raised in.

Not sure but maybe you might have a different opinion after you get older and try to get doctors to give you the care you need and Most likely deserve. :skull:
