Most people in cities keep their doors locked, or we do anyway. Maybe in the country they could just walk in, but they'll definitely get some push back.
Not everywhere, not all the time.
Many people have doors unlocked during the day but almost everyone has them locked at night.
A generation or two ago and doors were almost never locked. My old neighbour almost never locked his 24/7.
More people lock them now in part due to crime and population density, but also just due to anxiety of not knowing people for generations because there are so many newcomers from all over the world.
And then there are places in very cold climates where people might not lock their doors or cars almost ever as they leave them open just in case someone needs to get away from a bear or out of the lethal cold asap to avoid almost certain death.
But yeah, countryside & small towns probably have more unlocked doors than major cities.
