The alleged bodies of two “non-human” beings were presented during a congressional hearing in Mexico, generating a mixture of surprise, disbelief and ridicule on social media on Wednesday.

The purported mummified remains were exhibited in two small display cases — the first time the Mexican Congress has officially addressed the issue of possible extraterrestrial life.

The alleged corpses, which had a greyish colour and a human-like body form, were brought by Jaime Maussan, a controversial Mexican journalist and researcher who reported finding them in Peru in 2017.

This has gained attention because renowned labs worldwide, including Genetech, Lakehead University, Abraxas, BioTecMal, Ingemmet, UNAM, Harrisburg University, and others, have analyzed the fossilized bodies. They've used 3D X-rays, DNA samples, and more to confirm its authenticity. (Furthermore, at the congressional hearing, they revealed all the 3D scans of metal implants and the so-called "eggs." This was broadcasted live and made available for public viewing.

^ Yeah, I guess they're a conglomeration of different animal and human parts, but we'll probably hear more in the coming days.

The original analysis in 2017 "I can affirm that these bodies have no relation to human beings," said Jose de Jesus Zalce Benitez, director of the Scientific Institute for Health of the Mexican navy, during the hearing.

Scientists working with the National Laboratory of Mass Spectrometry with Accelerators at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (NAUM) put the bodies through a battery of tests, including an analysis of DNA and 3D X-rays.

The presentation of the bodies permits independent analysis of the results which will go a long way to confirming just what these creatures are.

So...like the skull of the "Piltdown Man" these bodies were cobbled together from different species' body parts.

But unlike the Piltdown Man it was not an intentional hoax fabricated by modern folks to punk their contemporaries.

It was an accidental hoax...the folks who cobbled the "bodies" together were Pre Columbian Native Americans who created the things for their own (probably ritual) purposes, and could not have imagined that their creations would (a) resurface a thousand years later, and (b) a thousand years later there would be such things as astronauts who ride in space ships, and live in space stations, nor that (c) folks from a thousand years later would look at their creations and jump to the conclusion that their creations were "astronauts in reverse" (spacemen from other planets visiting us).

Imagine if you tried to explain all of that to them.

A perfectly intelligent response: I don't know. People, including governments, make odd decisions all the time.
