A hateful graffiti urging locals to “kill a tourist” has sparked massive outrage after being found on a wall in Majorca.

Politicians in the Spanish holiday island have condemned the bitter act by anti-tourist vandals, calling the behaviour “totally unjustified”. a “worrying proliferation of graffiti with tourism-phobic messages” in the town.

Hostile messages against foreigners and tourists written on public walls have been on the rise – sparking fears that anti-tourist movements could become more hateful.

Thousands of locals have so far taken part in various anti-tourism protests across the holiday hotspots.

Overcrowding has become the main problem in many sunny destinations, with authorities trying to find a solution to keep tourists and locals happy.

Here in Wales it seems to be the Welsh Assembly doing that as numbers of tourists (Which were startingto hit an all time high after covid) are now finding other places instead due to the longer journeying times since the 20mph limits were introduced and the extra tourist taxes introduced that they have to pay if they want to book accomodation or stay at campsites. (Also the lack of public toilets in some areas which once had them has also been a concern, especially after 5pm (Some close as early as 4pm in certain areas of South Wales which also do not provide dissabled toiles for tourists to use (Was told that some local councils areas in South Wales decided to use their own type of local area dissabled key. North and Mid Wales all use the standard key so one is safer in those parts, though be aware that some of North and Mid Wales dissabled toilets are sadly locked after 5 or 6pm so be aware of this if one is dissabled and is travelling into those areas after that time, as there are no signs telling dissabled people where the next accessible toilet will be found! (Is not just an issue for the dissabled, as it is now a regular sight to see people urinating on beaches, in streams, rivers or in laybys after 5pm when the toilets have closed or if the coin machines have become faulty in pay type toilets which are more popular now than in the past.

Actually in Europe the public toilet situation around train stations, airports and popular tourist spots is horrendous. I don't want to report what I experienced but its a problem across the EU and unless tourists say something it will continue.

You'd think that a country would want to get as many tourists as possible so that they can have money pouring into their economy.

here goes me, putting on my Conspirascy Hat ..... Its a CIA plot ....to cause Countries to become more Nationalistic,
And perhaps justifying future National Democratic Socialism under the appearance of a Capitalistic Socialistic society
controlled by Republican , IL Dulce the " Trump". Or will that be herr Fuhrer ?

And whatever the Reason,, must agree with Cockney Rebel about more money coming to them... because that makes sense ! . So what motivated this behaviour in reality ? And only could come up with , stuff written above.??. 8O

Have a friend and her daughter walking through central Spain who haven't noticed any anti-tourist sentiment this last week.
Not tourist frequented areas admittedly.

It's not just Spain. Across the EU locals are getting sick of tourists flocking to areas they cherish. I think (without pointing fingers) that several groups I can think of swarm popular spots, behave badly, don't spend money and give their country a bad name.

You would think they would make the link.

Maybe they don't see the costs of hosting tourists as worthwhile relative to the money tourists bring.

Locals do dislike their cherished safe spaces being swarmed. I spoke to a Swiss resident who owned a property fairly high in the mountains but unfortunately since a number of hotels/resorts were built within walking distance he has had hordes of Chinese tourists almost all daylight hours using their property as a backdrop for photos. He grew tired of throwing them off his property (as they ignore the signs he put up) so he eventually gave up and just accepted their presence like a celebrity having papparazi parked outside their homes 24-7.

In the EU (while on holiday) I saw US (and Canadian) tourists everywhere. While they are loud and obnoxious (the stereotype is true) however they are angels compared to Chinese tourists who rank number 1 in being the worst (they tick every box including fighting/complaining). I saw a Chinese man try to physically push past Paris train security to access a out of service toilet threatening to leak everywhere if he wasn't allowed in (although to be fair to him, out of service bathrooms were a common problem across tourist spots in the EU and he was queuing there for some time).

People couldn't go anywhere anymore because of covid and now that they're allowed to again they're spreading diseases everywhere they go, even worse than before. People have learned nothing from the pandemic.

So...what are you saying?

Are you saying the world SHOULD be anti tourist...just to curtail travel to keep covid from spreading?
