At the bare minimum, all 50 states should take Maine and Nebraska's approach, should the EC stay.

Also, I think congressional districts should be given geographical identifiers, rather than numbers. By anchoring districts to a given area, it makes gerrymandering very difficult.

Yes, when only one of the two major parties has to win the EC in order to become President, that's a massive issue. But, even without that, the only states that seem to attract any attention during these races are the various races that are close enough for either candidate to potentially win. No GOP politician has really bothered to contest WA since sometime in the early '80s,even though it wasn't that long ago that GOP candidates were within a few thousand votes of taking the governorship, in which case it could have potentially been in play with the right platform.

The only thing the Electoral College protects us from is Democracy.

But won't this make it impossible for Republicans to win?

We all know running sane candidates who espouse reasonable policies with mainstream appeal won't ever be considered as an option by the GOP.
