Woman Escorted off Bus for Reading Bible Aloud
I think if she were asked nicely to stop or to keep the noise down she should have done so. Trouble is, when you get someone who is rabidly religious, they truly believe it is their mission in life to "save" as many souls as possible from hell. That said, I don't like people trying to convert me, especially if I just want some peace and quiet.
Nobody on any buses I've travelled on have done that but some young fellows had an annoying scratchy sounding mobile phone radio behind me a couple of times and it really took all my self restraint not to ask them to turn the darned thing off or use headphones. It must have been very cheap and low quality and it was hurting my ears.

As for listening to the bible rather than that. There are different interpretations to the bible and 99.9% of them are wrong! So why would you subject your ears to hearing twisted truths? The best bet is to get yourself a cheap MP3 and find some good Noahide interpretations of the Bible online - free - which are the closest you can get to the original Hebrew - and listen to that! Not somebody's lies about how they *think* things were meant to be.
The only way you can survive in this world is if you get pro-active -and undo the shackles of the sheeple. The Noahide version will let you do just that. Good luck.
I have never been on a quiet bus or even a tolerable level of sound unless I am alone with the driver. Out screaming seems required on any public transportation where I live and I wonder where all your calm quiet by law enforced busses are?????
I can take that back somewhat. Yesterday, I took same busline, but other direction. The driver kept yelling over everyone in a packed bus and settled them. he was scary, but riders all pretty quiet. The only time I want to avoid it, I am scared to say anything and area to bad to get of and wait for next one. If telling me they will kill me of rob me (Usually in spanish), I think safer to stay on bus.
will meet Hope today and my have companion for safety as well as other tasks. Wonder why no one wanted her? for seizures and hypoglycemia, Will have to retrain some and special tasks. May Hope be the SD for me.

She could have been too loud. There are also signs on the bus.
Oh hi - was wondering what your avatar was....

I am in agreement here because I have been in this situation before, on a bus. In addition, my NT ex-husband is a Seventh Day Adventist and he used to drive me crazy in the house with his proselytizing. His family, a bunch of hypocrites, was the same. The practitioners of this religion do seem to go overboard with the witnessing, annoying others who do not share their beliefs.
I believe religion is a private event and so I frown on public displays, loud or not, outside of home and church.
I am Christian and although I do not believe that religion is something that should be kept locked away from other non believers, I do think there is a gray area where out reaching about what you believe in to help others can be grossly misused. The bible calls for believers to have faith and to spread the gospel of the lord. Like all humans some believers let their "flesh" get in the way of the purpose of god which is simply to bring eternal life and salvation to all those living on earth.

From what I've learned about christianity is that the whole PREMISE of the dogma is to *preach the gospel*. And that's what they've been doing for 2,000 - in the world's face in every corner of the globe. Now it looks like it's backfiring on them. I just hope they don't go all Michigan Militia now....

Oh heathen, how it backfires on you!
Thank you for your help. I'm going to school to become a minister. I prefer a more dramatic approach like Jesus did. "O perverse generation! How long will I be with you?" My thoughts exactly.
just wondering if we are showing the tolerance we wish would be shown to us?

LOL - Heathen, eh? Isn't that the tactic your kind employed on the Jews and Muslims for 2,000 years using that as an excuse to torture, burn, bury, destroy, plunder, rape and sodomize anyone who called you on your twisted teachings?
Yeah.
I thought so.

OWNED!
But really, there is hardly enough evidence to claim that she was "religiously discriminated against." In Texas? Let's be honest, she was probably disruptive or something. Most Americans are Christian, I laugh at these little efforts that some Christians (not all, of course) employ to try to achieve the whole "persecuted minority" status. Puh-lease...
It's interesting that the Christians did so much worse to others for practicing other religions, and at the slightest <cough> infringement of their *rights* they go off the deep end. Next thing you know they'll be electing Huckabee. Oh wait, did I say that out loud? Cancel that!
Anyway - here are some more details -
Bible-Reading Woman Kicked Off Fort Worth Bus
Created: Monday, 31 Dec 2007, 3:48 PM CST
FORT WORTH -- A Fort Worth woman wants an apology from the city's mass transit system because of how she was treated Saturday while on her way to church. Christine Lutz claimed she was kicked off The T for reading the Bible aloud to her children.
Lutz said she was sitting in the back of the bus, but wasn't being disruptive. She claimed she was stunned when the bus driver interrupted her reading.
"She asked me to stop reading my Bible," Lutz told FOX 4. "I said, 'No, I'm reading the Bible, I'm teaching the kids, I'm going to continue.' And I continued."
Lutz said the next thing she knew, the bus had pulled over and she was being escorted into a supervisor's van, which then took her and her family to church.
Officials at The T said the incident had nothing to do with what Lutz was reading, just the fact that she was simply making too much noise. Signs on the bus warn against playing radios and loud behavior. Transportation officials claimed they asked Lutz to quiet down, and when she refused, they were forced to remove her from the bus.
"If she were reading 'Moby Dick' or reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or reading anything else, the same thing would have occurred," said The T's Joan Hunter.
But the Liberty Legal Institute, which has fought many legal battles over religious issues, said The T is out of line.
"I'm extremely shocked that a bus driver would pull over and take time out of his busy schedule in order to kick off a lady and her two kids while they're trying to read the Bible on their way to church," said Hiram Sasser of the Liberty Legal Institute. "They should be ashamed of that."
Lutz said all she is looking for is an apology. She said in her mind, what happened this past weekend was religious persecution, and she refuses to go along for the ride.

This lady was in the *back* of the bus and the bus driver could hear her? Apparently, she must of been reading pretty loudly for her voice to carry that far.
I take public transportation myself and you wouldn't believe the kinds of stuff that happens on buses here. We get people constantly using profanity, folks with obvious mental illnesses who always find it necessary to spout their word salad at the top of their lungs and I've encountered men who choose me as the girl to use for their masturbatory fantasy....while they're sitting across from me.
If this lady is the worst one can encounter on Fort Worth's public transportation, then I need to move there.
