Personally, given his attitude as head of the NRA, I say good riddance. 'From my cold dead hands' indeed.

I was gonna start this when the news broke (I was patrolling Wikipedia's recent changes and noticed over 100 edits to the Charlton Heston article in 5 minutes. That's a good sign someone's dead).

I hated his politics and from what "Bowling for Columbine" has lead me to believe, a pretty wretched person in his last decade of life, but he was a great actor.

RIP. I loved the movie Ben-Hur. Charlton Heston seemed a bit weird in Bowling for Columbine because he had Alzheimer's (and because Moore's movies are full of ad hominem).

Well, in his having to part the Red Sea as Moses in the film, "Ten Commandments", it must have taken alot out of him.

Aw, that sucks.

He was a great actor, and while I might have disliked his politics and stance on gun control, it's a shame that he's gone.

I lose all respect for him when I found out what he was like with the NRA etc... but meh, RIP anyway.

Very sad!

As we know, Easter just passed and ABC shows The Ten Commandments in prime time every Easter! At least it is shown every year on that day in this country!

How ironic, and what a shock!

Curtains for the Rifleman topic

I think there will be trouble in the heavenly hereafter because he impersonated Moses. :P

He was a good man and great actor and a man who stood up for individual rights and Liberty against those who would have us `live` in a Big Brother run commie red fascist state.

RIP. Good actor. Stood against most of what I dislike about liberals, even though I'm a democrat because of W.

I thought he was a one of the great actors of the 20th century, but I hated his NRA viewpoints, lost a lot of respect for him over that. But who I really lost alot of respect for was Michael Moore over his interview with Charlton Heston in his movie Bowling for Columbine, the man had Alzheimer's disease, who was gracious enough to invite that fat smug self righteous bastard into his home, then berating an ill and confused man, that wasn't right.
Despite his political views I still watch his movies, when ever they are on tv, and always will, you can only pry the remote from my cold dead hands!

So, the right to bear arms is good?

For those who are responsible enough to do so safely, yes. For people who are incompetent or can't keep violent impulses in check no. If you have a philosophical problem with guns protecting you, then you might want to not call the Police if a violent escaped felon is trying to get in your house because the Police will have guns with them. Anyone who cares to can go to the local Library and check out John Lott's book More Guns, Less Crime for a point of view the mainstream media doesn't show. I find it irritating that hypocrites like Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Don Perata want to deny the serfs in America their 2nd Amendment rights yet have armed bodyguards or, in the case of Perata, used his political influence to get a carry permit denied to Californians who are not politically connected.

An awesome actor.

Ben-Hur, Touch of Evil, and Planet of the Apes
were most likely his best work.

Knowing the fact Charlton Heston was head of the NRA,
I didn't like his poltics concerning gun control.

But, it's a shame he's gone.

I liked his role in Wayne's World 2.
