Smell linked to post traumatic stress

The University of Melbourne and Austin Health study has been published in the April issue of the international journal Psychological Medicine.

The study involved conducting smell tests on 31 male war veterans with PTSD, recruited from the Austin Health’s Veterans Psychiatry Unit.

“Smell impairments have been identified in other populations where people have difficulties in thinking, feeling and behaviour, such as with schizophrenia, ADHD and autism, “said Assoc Prof Brewer.

John Dileo says that unlike other mental health conditions, the unique aspect of PTSD is that it occurs after an event.

I have this problem. I'm very sensitive to smells, particularly artificial scents.
But I have trouble naming what I'm smelling.
Unless the Missus is cooking with garlic or onions ...
