I was disappointed as well, I wanted him to be successful. I even voted for him.
My problem is, not that he fooled around with somebody much younger, but that not only did he lie about it, he persuaded the young man to lie about it, too. (There is some question about whether he was 18 yet at the time the relationship began.) I am sure the coverup was just to avoid the age question, which I consider to be a real concern. Otherwise, yes, it's his own personal business. But lying about it indicates there really was something to cover up. And I really don't think his being gay has anything to do with it.
Sex is a taboo in the US everyone know that instead of jumping towards cover ups and other stuff of that nature perhaps you should consider he just didn't want anyone to know. Would you go around screaming I had anal sex with such and such last night it was fantastic or I just had my first orgasm with my wife?
