I did a pretty stupid thing. I have a neighbor right next door who had an older CRT television laying by the curb nearby. I asked him to assist in bringing it into the front room of my house on the floor. My parents are pretty disappointed and my dad is wondering why I would bring home a garbage electronic.

So that was something very stupid I just did there.

Isn’t vintage stuff in style now? Not stupid if you like it. Might only be a problem if you are dragging tons of old junk into your room.

Does it even work?

If it does, do you have cable TV, Satellite TV or a converter box in order to watch any broadcast channels?

Otherwise, your father is right: it’s a piece of junk.

I only thought I wanted it to only hook up a VCR.

Knowing that, have you tried hooking up a vcr or any other video device? If you get audio and video, you got a bargain. If not, well...

I tried to do this when the neighbors scrapped a 1982 Zenith color TV--figured with the guts of an old classroom overhead and some painted cardboard I'd make a cinema projector. Dad was in refusal.

Let me know how this works out...

I guess my parents just don't want me getting old junk. They complained because CRT TV's are hard to get rid of too.

Garbage? Does it work? If yes then it's not garbage. Tell your old man than you wanted it for your Super Nintendo. Tell him that Super Mario World just doesn't look the same on an LCD screen.

I kind of want one myself for that nostalgic feeling. Even better if you have nintendo games to play on it.

That's what I thought about my VCR but it might be a case of a bad cost-benefit idea. But maybe I jumped too far. The CRT is medium-sized by the way, I actually had asked the neighbor to carry it into my living room for me and I'm not even strong enough to carry it. That's the other thing.

Old consoles work best on CRT TVs. Do you own any of them?

Maybe VCRs work best on old TV's as well.

It may be the bulk of it that's the problem. Could you get a smaller CRT television? They're pretty common and some of them look really cool.

Does your new television work?

Don't become a hoarder. CRT TVs take up too much space. JUNK! JUNK IT!
