Probably because you knew it would be ridiculous.

It seems like she was trying to indoctrinate you.

Go on to someone else as a friend.

Wut? :?

It's not your fault she believes crazy alex jones' crap and thinks you should, too.

Move on. There are sane people to be friends with - even people you disagree with who simply don't believe you have to buy into their brand of BS to be friends with them.

This will be difficult to hear, if she cant accept that you didn't want to watch it then shes not being a good friend at all. Friendship is a two way street. You don't need to be horrible in the way you tell her you didn't want to watch it which im sure you didn't in any case but simply saying you didn't want to watch it cause you dont like it is being honest and upfront. Ive had to lose alot of old friendships over the years some going back to before i was a teenager, many of them turned it to be not what i thought they were or people changed for the worse rather than better over time.

Yes it can get lonely not having any friends and its true it takes time to make new friends and can be hard to meet others with similar interests. It does suck losing old friends, even today i remember the good times i had with alot of my old friends but then i remember who they turned into later on and its like im not sad about no longer communicating with them.

All I know is that if I can't make enough money to relocate to Seattle, NYC or the SF Bay Area, my chances of meeting people with the same interests are gone forever.

The only way I could meet people with the same interests in Houston is to force people to have the same interests.

There are poor people in all of those locales. Pick one and go there, be poor yet rich in the experiences you choose. You can't expect to sustain the same level of real estate holdings or high quality of life - it's an unrealistic expectation, like most working class people moving to the Vancouver area where I live. If you own a house where you live, maybe you'll only be able to rent a basement suite or bedroom in the suburbs of one of those cities.. BUT, at least you'd be there surrounded by people and things that interest you. It's all about choices and the sacrifices you're willing to make for them.

It is NOT your fault! It sounds like she has major issues and has been brainwashed like all of those other right wing nutjobs.
Be grateful that you don't have to deal with that anymore and do look at finding more like minded people online.

I think people only add me on FB to watch their number of friends go up, and not be an actual friend.

I’ve also tried to reconnect with people I hadn’t talked to in a while, but it’s been so long that they’ve forgotten who I am.

As I asked earlier: Have you considered moving to Austin? Seems to me that would be easier and cheaper than moving to Seattle, NYC, or the SF Bay Area -- but you are more likely to find your kind of people in Austin than in Houston, from what I've heard.

Part of it is also to escape the Abbott dictatorship.

Hi Tim. You are a kind gentle soul. It's her loss. And for what? Alex Jones

I've known people fall out for years and then become friends again later in life.

I know that doesn't help now, but the social zeitgeist changes all the time. One day this may seem to her like a silly reason to fall out. You may become friends again.

Tell me about it. My parents had yo-yo relationships with scores of people over the years. In their old age they love catching up for dinner with old enemies. Frenemies

you could consider Portland which is 24.1% less expensive than Seattle. Portland housing costs are 41.3% less expensive than Seattle housing costs. and Salem [Oregon] is a third cheaper cost-of-living than Portland. you could also consider Tacoma or Olympia, also cheaper to live in than Portland, if you want employment in a tech field. Tacoma and Oly are fairly center-left places these days, just like Portland. the weather in all those places is also more temperate than where you're at now.

You say you’re a centrist, politically, but are pretty chill when it comes to friends’ political affiliations. For those three cities, I really have to say that you’re just going to be exchanging one extreme for another.

If you aren’t aren’t hardcore leftist / socialist in these places, you’re going to have a very hard time making friends. It’s like people who congregate in certain areas do so in order to be around only people who believe as they do. People are bubblizing themselves.

people are "bubblizing" themselves for very good reason, to get away from some unpleasant sorts who think like 19th century people.
