Why do YouTube commenters pick on ME?

I was watching a YouTube video of a history documentary about Victorian schools, and someone wrote a comment saying "with my ADHD and anger issues I wouldn't have survived the Victorian times at school", and there was a load of comments by other people with ADHD or anxiety or whatever saying the same sort of thing. So I added a comment too, saying relatively the same as what the others were saying, but some jerk just picked on me (my username was in their comment) telling me that my ADHD and anxiety disorder are imaginary and that I had paid someone to diagnose me to have an excuse for my bad behaviour and some other snarky sarcastic remark.
I got angry so I deleted my original comment and reported the jerk for bullying, because nobody gets away with f*****g with me.

But the point of this thread is this: why did this jerk pick on ME and not anyone else in the comments even though they commented about having ADHD too? My username is just a bunch of letters and numbers, I don't have a profile picture, so nothing about my profile or style of writing makes me look weak enough to be singled out. It's spooky. How do they know to pick on me and not anyone else? Why me?

It's happened before on YouTube, on a completely different video. I agreed to other comments about something and a different jerk came along and ONLY picked on me. It's like social rejection in real life, but nobody can know that I'm a socially weak Aspie to pick on by a YouTube comment, yes I know people on WP believe NTs have these super brains that can know everything about a total stranger but really, knowing someone just by a vague username and a sentence in a YouTube comment does not scream out autism unless you specifically say so. I know I said ADHD but so did the other comments and they didn't get called out on it.

By the way I don't have a YouTube channel and I've never made a video, so nobody on YouTube knows me at all from anywhere, even a professional psychic who specialises in autism would not know who I am just by a YouTube comment.

Those people would pick on anybody.

Those people have nothing better to do.

Trolls gonna troll.

You could always fight back by pointing out how pathetic it is to be fighting with someone over their medical history over the internet and how bad their life needs to be to feel the need to pick that fight.

I just discovered what a YT channel was a couple of weeks ago, and wrote my first comments. I've never used Reddit or any other mainstream / NT place for commenting before.

I must admit it was scary af and there are a lot of really aggressive idiots out there.

I'm sorry that happened Joe.

Yes but how come they pick on me and not others who said the same thing I did? It's a bit like having a bag of different colour marbles and closing your eyes and picking one at random and it always happens to be the red marble each time. I feel like I have some sort of weird curse that makes me get treated differently even when I'm 100% anonymous and nobody knows me.

I'm actually too baffled to be upset.

What gets me is that some people with the opposing religion as mine will always pick on us. Even if it’s someone we have everything else in common with. People get picked on for being too nice (take My Life as a Teenage Robot for instance) My cousin Lindsay always gets picked on and I’d have come to her aid if I knew I wouldn’t make things worse. A religious mentor of mine has been there too.

Which is why I don’t post any videos on YouTube (I might post audio, but very rarely.)

It's OK, I asked the jerk why he/she picked on me only and not the others and he/she said it was because I was the most recent comment. Not logical but still a good enough reason, as I was just baffled why I got singled out.

Words fail me. You were targeted for just being the most recent poster???? If that clown went for a brain scan it would come back as 'not found'.

I hope you're doing OK Joe90.

They pick on other people too….trust me!

Even on the travel vlogs. People sometimes just go on YouTube to be an idiot.

I know how you feel. I hate being picked on, too. But remember that these people don’t know you from Eve.

It's OK, I'm not so upset, because they said the same applied to the other comments who said they have neurological disorders but my username was 'tagged' because it was the most recent, not because of some spooky coincidence that I'm always singled out. Yes it's not acceptable but I think they would have picked on whoever was the most recent.

So, yeah, I can let this one pass.

That actually makes a lot of sense, the most recent poster can probably be assumed as the one most likely to respond.

I'd be willing to bet they might not be blessed when it comes to executive function but lack any sort of diagnoses so they might be projecting their struggles, but I wouldn't waste too much thought on people like that. Nasty bitter people can't help but be nasty and bitter.

Just laugh at these people. You're better than them. Never give them what they want, which is to upset people with their crap.

I wouldn't have the guts to write a nasty comment to random strangers on YouTube (or anywhere else), and I don't know how people that do live with themselves. Even though I'm behind a screen and 100% anonymous, I still couldn't do it. I always write nice comments, just to help people restore their faith in people. Being nasty and upsetting people will just make me feel bad. Being nice to people makes me feel good. Why can't every human be like this? (Thankfully a lot of humans are but sadly not every human).

Yes. They just randomly picked you. You were the last person, and the first name on their radar screen, to say the thing (whatever it was) that offended them. So instead of saying "you all...are a bunch of fakers" they picked you - like hunter taking a shot at the first squirrel they see.

And you did the right thing to report them.

Oh! I just now read your last comment.

Well.. there ya go!

Exactly.
