No argument here to define God. I think that hypotheses about the meaning of life, in the many religions of the world have served a purpose and serve a purpose that is similiar to the purpose that science serves now. It seems that most people seek purpose and meaning in life and many of us come to different conclusions that change over time. The evidence is clear that religions, ideas about God, and Science evolve over time along with life forms.
In a sense evolution does not disagree with some traditional religious ideas, like the idea that God formed man out of clay. Science makes the effort, unwittingly, to present the details of this metaphor, but from a scientific perspective the religious metaphor was a pretty good hypothesis given the state of science a few thousand years ago.
I have an open mind to details that explain metaphors, but on the other hand I am open to metaphors that may lead to additional details; all for the purpose to find meaning in life.
Human imagination started all of what we know of science. The process continues and evolves.
