I also thought you troubleshoot problems with software and computer files and all that. Defragmentation and all that.

Fixing this only requires the ability to type. And to access those files through typing. And to fix problems through typing programs.

A. I already tried something like that. Not with Craigslist and though with developing a program. I only had one taker who I successfully created a pivot calculator for. It was a guy from Sweden and it's very interesting how instead of using the "." as a decimal they use the comma as a decimal point.

B. With computer repair and programming I have zero clue as to how much to charge someone.

C. With respect to both of them when someone asks how long will it take I honestly have no f*****g clue as to how to give an answer. I'm told to give a ballpark figure or shoot it out of my ass. How?

D. With respect to computer repair, I have motor coordination problems. Let me put it to you this way. I've had to replace a DC Jack on laptops I've had in the past. Days later it would malfunction. Or the motherboard malfunctions or the computer no longer retains a charge. This is consistent with almost every laptop I've done.

And, a lot of times the screws are of differing sizes. So, one has to know what size screw to put into what hole when one puts it all back together.

E. I've lost all passion for programming and computer repair anyway.

Do you all see the problem here? Do you guys see the issues?

Kraftie, Persephone29, Teach, etc the thing is (no I'm not attacking or meaning to attack) though you all are giving overly-simplistic solutions without consideration of the circumstances that may give issues for me to actually implement these solutions. My loved ones do the exact same thing. This is one of the main reasons why I wish to walk away from the poker table.

And, I do have to take somewhat what I said of Voc Rehab. My voc rehab counsleor asked me a lot of questions and had me to intricate tests and months later he was still trying to find someone who could work with me. He pretty much attempted to do what I was talking about and his quote was this. "It would take a miracle of God for you to be employed."

At the risk of seeming overly simplistic, have you ever considered that you're impossible?

I've been watching you and every single solution anyone offers you is shot down, dismissed, no good, etc.

Maybe what you need is therapy, or depression medication.

Voc Rehab is doing great for me. They have totally listened to my frustrations and have focused on me getting out of IPN, rather than a job right now. Because if I get out of IPN, I can find work.

I knew someone here would say something to me along these lines b/c this has been said to me before.

Overly-simplistic, pat answers do not work for complex and multi-faceted issues. Quick fixes don't work either. This is one of the problems with our world today. Simple answers for multi-faceted and complicated issues.

I've been to therapy since I was 4. I took medicine since I was 18. The truth of the matter is that therapy and meds are band-aids. They don't get to the root of the issues that I have. And, the main, main issue I have is that trying to understand society and it's demands is like going through a bunch of Alice's Rabbit holes. And, when I try to read reference materials it's like reading a foreign language or telling me that if I need help draw a door.

If we're going to go with simple then here it is...

You can't simply treat depression with drugs. All one is doing is masking the symptoms. It is not my attitude that's the problem. It's not my depression that's the problem. It's this horrific disability that I have that is the real root of my issues combined with a world that is not made for me and a world that has little to no services for me and others as well who have similar or worse issues then I do. And, it's the expectations of those around me and many others not around me who believe I can do it and it is my attitude that is the problem. Expectations, I literally can't fulfill without intricate guidance to do so (and that is if intricate guidance would work for me). No other mental disability has all of these demands that we on the spectrum are expected to fulfill by the world today.

And, let's not forget the whole be yourself combined with being expected to meet social appropriateness standards. And, if that's not Orwellian double think I don't know what is.

The truth of the matter is we who are square pegs are expected to play by someone else's rules, someone else's game and someone else's standards none of us ever got a vote in even at the cost of our mental and physical health.

I have to say that the dynamics of wrongplanet are more and more becoming like the outside NT world the more years I'm here with the arbitary rules, social pecking order and this whole lover affair with conforming to the world no matter how much it f***s with one mentally and physically. And, why do we do this? How well does it end up working out for us or the majority of us?

I'm going to revisit whether I should quit or not in two more months and if I do decide this then I'm folding my hands and walking away from the poker table. And, with that I'm writing a big email/letter why I called it quits, why I can't function and asking my family to be put away.

Then, if you know all this already, why create a thread? Just apply for disability and be done with it. Everybody here is doing the best they can, including the people taking time out of their day to offer support (overly simplistic, or not).

Two reasons.

A. Mainly to rant

B. Mainly to help think things out for myself and to determine if I'm right and my negativity is really sound. It may be that one of you may say something that may click it all into place.

C. I am a decinist like Morris Berman. I believe our world civilization with the unlimited growth mindset is going to decline and/or collapse like fedualism, communism, etc. I want to create my own black box for people of the distant future when they do a forensic analysis of our civilization just like we do of differing ones like the Roman Empire. I want them to have my contribution.

You've done nothing but bash, get exasperated with, criticize...

What good do you have to offer? Any?

No doubt, some people have it hard. My family is afflicted with autism in varying degrees, in each generation. One of my littlest granddaughters is the most severe. But the kid is happy and we celebrate every single victory...

Who didn't celebrate your victories? Because that's a big part of where your problems lie... What about focusing on good stuff outside the work setting? I want to work, but right now, it's just not feasible. So, I'm helping another granddaughter get straightened out.

There is good we can all do.

I offer the honest truth.

But, what is expected of her?

And, how do you know who does or does not celebrate my victories? And, how do you know I haven't focused on the good stuff? You're coming up with diagnoses and what "my problem" without regards to really knowing who I am as a person, how I think and what my life was like for me for the 40 years I've been on this planet. And, yes I've had victories and successes but what good are they when the outcome is a failure? Why this heavy focus on my attitude at all? What is our world's obsession with looking on the bright side, looking at victories, my attitude at all? It's like dealing with a cult on a massive scale.

Like???? What are you even talking about exactly?

How has your attitude served you thus far? Far be it from me to be the exception to the ASD community and be able to read tone through text, but you sound pretty miserable and focused on the negative.

If you enjoy this perpetual state of doom and gloom, stay in it.

If you don't, do something different. As far as the good we can all do, be a peer advocate. If you feel there's not enough support for the ASD communities, create an outline geared towards individuals such as yourself. Write out what you think you needed, but didn't get and reach out to organizations and see if they would be willing to make some changes. You must have some idea what you need, or you wouldn't be able to tell everyone here why everything they offer up as a solution won't work. Offer to educate your local Voc Rehab on what ASD/Asperger people need. You're articulate, you can obviously communicate your dislikes. How about voicing your likes and see if it goes anywhere?

This is what I have learned: if it's always all about me, what I'm being denied, what's wrong with my life, etc... I am miserable. When I look around, outside myself, it doesn't take long to find someone worse off. Help someone...

But, why does my attitude matter though? Why is it treated as though it is the building blocks of the universe?

Look down at my answer for my response and what I say here is an example of what I wish would be changed.

This is one example I would change about Voc Rehab, other disability organizations. I would not treat positive attitude and negative as actually an attitude but more as developing a skill. One has to learn to project a positive attitude no matter how one truthfully feels especially on a job interview. Confidence would not be an emotion but a series of social skills that are rotely taught.

Another thing, I would have the whole be yourself thing simply dropped. It's confusing, contradictory and makes so sense.

I would have hand shaking taught including the amount of pressure one should have. Maybe have a dummy that measures the amount of pressure a student has that says to high or to low.

As for eye contact, I do wish our society would get rid of this. But, it's not. I would have them getting used to them looking at the bridge of a person's nose. Simply practice it. Practice how long one should maintain it.

Teach them how to manage a schedule and calendar.

Telling them techniques as to what to do to make it to work on time.

Come up with and practice answering interview questions.

Teaching them about what discrimination is, how to advocate for themselves, sexual harassment and to take every step and precaution to protect themselves from false harrassment charges.

This!! !! I could do this. Especially the writing part. I want to write that as sort of my black box. Refer to previous.

This!! ! ! I could do this. Especially the writing part. I want to write that as sort of my black box. Refer to previous.

It matters if it drives people away. I can be very angry. I try to reserve my passion for the political threads. Politics are an area where tensions are expected to be high, my anger is more acceptable there. If I went into the kids forum and told everyone there what a f****d up bunch of rejects they all were, I'd probably get thrown out. That's not my ultimate goal. My goal is to get what I need.

I think you will do well with the ideas you have, may benefit others who are frustrated. I hope you will keep us posted on the solutions you come up with. I'm sure you'll refine them with the passing of time. Good luck! :)

This is a very good reason. It's logical and specific. You did not go into the whole putting vibes out into the universe. And, this is why telling someone to simply be themselves is useless. This is one phrase I would encourage parents, teachers, professionals, etc to quit using straight away. Being oneself is vague and considers all types of selves equal when they're not. Should a pedophile be his true self when he is molesting a child? I think not. If nothing else, get rid of that advice.

And, I would treat executive functioning as priority #1 over social skills.

And, part of social skills should be teaching them to advocate for themselves and setting boundaries. Especially being able to say no. Ask Aspie1 about his experiences with his employers.

If a person learns nothing else they should learn one thing. Being able to set boundaries with others and saying no. When one sets firm boundaries and says no the users will flock away from you.

You guys know what'd be awesome. Real world and Social skills for dummies book.

The for dummies book are the best material out there to learn different things. They're not to complex and not to simple.

All I did was say put an ad in Craigslist or whatever. Maybe you could pick up a couple hundred extra bucks per month fixing peoples’ computer files. At least some of that doesn’t require opening up a person’s computer.

Charge $50 an occurrence. Offer a discount. Fixing 4 peoples’ computer files a month would yield you $200, hopefully some of that in cash.

I believe you are allowed about $400 a month extra before they reduce your benefits.

You’re very welcome here on WP.

We understand that you are autistic and don’t think like an NT.

We understand that very well.

But to lash out and get pissed off at somebody attempting to offer advice, no matter how non-applicable to your situation it is, is overkill.

Sorry my friend. Is everything cool between us?

It's just that certain people on here and IRL (certain conservative personal responsibility types) who behave a certain way towards me and others and refuses to see a different point of view other then their own just pisses me off. I won't name names b/c I don't want the wrongplanet police coming here.

I'm not angry with you or Magz or teach.
