All that I've ever wanted is an easy life me.

Just to be left to my own devices, hassle free and peaceful.

But then I keep getting put in these positions of responsibility.

I hate it, it just isn't me and it doesn't matter that I'm capable of taking up these positions, it just doesn't sit well with me.

What do I do?

Do I sabotage my own position and get demoted?

Do I just stick at it and think about the extra money?

Or, do I talk to my boss and see what he says?

I'm in a bit of a pickle, if I'm honest.

I have already spoke to my colleagues about it and I get mixed responses. Some say that I should stick it out and give myself a chance and others say I should talk to my boss.

I'm not so proud that I can't talk to my boss, but I just don't want to let him down because he has been really good to me.

Anyway, I'll just have to see what happens today.

The thing is, is that when I got promoted everyone wanted to be on my team.

I can't think why, it must have something to do with the nature of the way I am.

But then I had to pick and choose people but everyone still gravitates towards me.

I just end up delegating all my responsibilities to those who have good leadership qualities. They seem to like that.

I don't know if this is right or wrong.

Anyway, I'm just processing my thoughts here.

I suppose I will reach my own conclusion.

When you delegate you're treating people with respect and they generally like that. I imagine that could explain their wanting to be on your team

That shows you have good management skills. I suggest you try to stick it out; sounds like you've got the position under control, even if you are currently not comfortable with it.

I have repeatedly informed my supervisors that I do not want to supervise or manage other coworkers. They keep on asking and I keep on saying I'm not interested. The supers have a hard time I guess understanding that this is not a desire.

I also get asked or reminded to switch careers to what they do which is logistics. I'm the only IT/helpdesk person working directly with them, but they let me know it's a great idea to do what they do. I don't like logistics, but they seem to have a hard time understanding that I do not like what they do.

You'd have to be doing a good job if they are asking you to supervise.
I couldn't do it,I can barely manage myself. :D

Thanks everyone.

I think I've done the right thing in talking to my manager about it.

We've decided that I stick it out for a few more weeks and if I'm still not happy then I can stand down and he will give me more hours so that I wont lose out financially.

I feel a bit better about it now.

For me, when others want to promote me it tells me only one thing, they want me to start dealing with more people. then next thing I I know I am always under stress from people cranking at me because of my lack of social skills. not only that but my social anxieties goes through the roof. most of the time when others wants to promote me its not because of my skills but instead its seniority. I guess you have to ask your self, does this promotion come with a raise? if not, then its just not worth it. but on the flip side, if it is because of skills, its nice feeling wanted and important. much has to do with what you think you can handle. what happened to the last guy your taking the place of? why they quit or get fired?

Well I do get quite a substantial raise and the last person left to go into nursing. She is the one who put me forward because I was her back up.

It's not a problem now anyway. I've got it sorted thanks.
