It helped me through school and my elementary school couldn't put me in a behavior program because of the dx. Plus my parents understood me better so I was in less trouble and my mom stopped getting mad for my obsessions and taking them away.

It's partly self-validation: I was suspecting but people said I cannot self-diagnose. The diagnosis has helped me see situations more clearly. I understand that I'll always have difficulty with certain things. It's hard to accept that, but possible indeed.
The biggest change is that I joined an Asperger's therapy group and ended up rooming with one of the other members.
