Could a a big male silverback gorilla be capable of defeating a black bear in a fight to the death?

A grizzly bear obviously could kill a gorilla

There is only one way to find out...

Post your inquiry on a public website devoted to people with autism spectrum disorders and wait for all the people who have never seen a male silverback gorilla OR a black bear up close and personal to argue about it while citing vaguely-referenced statistics and personal feelings, and while accusing each other of being Socialists or Fascists, until they all

Never mind all that.

There is only one practical way to find out, and that's to put the two animals in a pit to fight it out until only one

Forget that, too.

There just is no way to answer your question without wasting a lot of time in senseless debate or committing a heinous act of animal cruelty.

a black bear would lose to a gorilla

I agree that a grizzly would easily win

No. Halfway through they will always realize humans are the real enemy and that they must unite to defeat the common threat.

At which point the camera crew shoots them both and incinerates the memory card so that this question remains a mystery.

I’ve had black bears in my yard but no gorillas.

It's proof gorillas have mastered stealth. Gorillas are masters of guerrilla warfare, it's in the name. :nerdy:
