I just looked it up. I wouldn't have a use for that but thank you for the suggestion

Don't buy a gun. They're horrible things. Why do they even sell guns when there are mass shootings in the US every 5 minutes? f****d up country, sorry to say.

Have you ever used a gun before? Why do you need or want one?

FWIW to the OP:

I used to have these thoughts in the past, 9+ years ago. But they were more along the lines of what I might do with one in a very dark moment and why I shouldn't ever buy/own one in order to not create even the possibility for that situation to occur.

I haven't had thoughts like those in ~9ish years since learning how to treat my depression/anxiety/asd symptoms etc. If I felt inclined to shoot one, or own one, I think I'd be totally fine. There IS a firearms instructor in the extended family, as mentioned above, and they could teach me to shoot properly/technically. I don't think I'd have great difficulties - I was always a decent shot with a paintball gun and a damned marksman with a pellet rifle. BUT, I'm not all That interested Nor do I have time for even more hobbies.. lol I have so many sporting goods and things I haven't been able to make the time to use in soooo long, there's no sense in adding another expensive hobby to the mix. Might go to a local range with my sister in law sometime, though. She's a RN and has gone a few times just to blow off some steam shooting up paper targets - says it's a blast! :D Kinda jealy of my best friend that fired a 50 cal desert eagle hand cannon at some range in Lost Wages, Nevada. That'd be cool. 8)

You're a nice lady, Skibum. Why would you want to buy a gun?

..the implication of the thread is that they were experiencing suicidal thoughts and contemplating the sure way out via self inflicted GSW.

skibum I wish life was treating you better so you wouldn't have such thoughts. I have had suicidal thoughts before, a gun isn't the answer. I hope that you can find the help and support that you need. You can always come here to talk and vent frustrations, if you have friends or family you can reach out to them as well but please, don't do the "gun" route... Also there is always the risk that any route down this path fails and you cause permanent damage that you can't undo and have to live with for the rest of your life on top of the struggles you are going through now.

I am so glad you never purchased a weapon. You are so nice and I would be so saddened if you ever harmed yourself.

Skibum - I am sorry you are struggling with life. A gun is simply not the answer to your problems. I am glad you did not buy one for that purpose. Hang in there, life will get better for you. We all have our low points that we have to deal with at one time or another. It is part of being alive.
