Taking people opinions personally...
I'm excited about my upcoming move... I'm getting all the details worked out!
I intend to walk as much as possible, and at a thrift store I found a small backpack to put my bird gear or whatever in...
I showed it to my late uncle's girlfriend and she's like:
"If you wear that around town they're gonna think your a homeless person!"
I mean this hit a nerve... Like when I first met my husband, he made me get rid of my phany pack and wear more feminine clothes... Basically he didn't wanna be seen with an unfeminine girl...
I'm tired by people that keep bossing me around... I'm a people pleaser and that kinda comment thinks the backpack wasn't a good idea... Sigh...

I'd have to bite my tongue to keep from saying something like:
"If you judge people like that around town, they're gonna think you're a bitcccch".
Seriously. I can't stand people like that. More power to you for not flipping out.
I don't own a backpack, but so what. Students own them.
Maybe you'll look like an intellectual, instead of a homeless person? (Not that those terms are mutually-exclusive).
Handbags are feminine…but they are not as efficient as backpacks…and they’re more easily snatched.
I do study and carry books, but I don't like backpacks because they put all the weight on my shoulders.
I have a large book bag, and a cross-body messenger bag. I can put my wallet or other "purse" items in them (my sunglasses, keys, etc -- I don't carry much else).
When I'm not studying I just use a ladies' handbag.
Regardless -- if you want to carry a backpack, go for it! There's nothing wrong with them and they're useful!
(Her opinion sounds really silly).
Yeah, I hate when NTs say "people will think..." about you, because in reality, most people won't even notice or don't even care.

Your late uncle's girlfriend obviously doesn't have good taste in accessories.

I used to be a people pleaser too, but I have started to care less and less as I get older. I wish I could go back to when I was younger and express myself fully (without allowing the judgments of others influence my decisions). Unmasking has been a difficult process for me. I hope that you can express yourself too! I'd love to see your backpack and pins/patches!
