Very good job quitting for 2 days. One day at a time. They have AA online y'know. The theory is you connect with the guys online there and then contact them when you have the urge to drink.

Autistic & ADHD here. I'm a recovering binge drinker as is my partner (who has an ADHD diagnosis). We have both managed to stay sober for 6 years and 3 months now, but it can be difficult at times.

Much like babybird, we both have addictive personalities and we have had to find healthier things to hyperfocus on. We try to stay busy so there isn't that temptation. Sitting still is definitely a difficult thing to do (even if my often failing body is forcing me to do so). It is something I'm working on!

The first few weeks/months of sobriety are definitely the most difficult. 2 days is something to be proud of--even if you slip and have to start over again!

I’m also ADHD, Inattentive type.

This has interfered with my accomplishments in a mighty way.

I’m a classic autist because I didn’t speak till age 5 1/2.

Have drunk 25 units alcohol this week since monday so it's an improvement. I am going to try to limit myself to 35 units a week for now and then try and cut down further later. I am on a 2 year NHS waiting list for my inattentive type ADHD so I'm hoping I will eventually get some effective treatment and kick the drinking for good as at the moment I feel I am using the alcohol to self medicate my ADHD.

Thought I'd post again as I'm pretty worried as my drinking has got worse again. Had 84.6 units alcohol so far this week. :( All this russian war business is doing my head in and everytime I walk past a petrol (gas) station I crap myself at the prices and the price of food and fuel going up. Where will it all end? Been getting more exercise but that doesn't seem to be helping with the drinking.

On the plus side I've not had a drink today.

Drank 13 units over the last 6 hours (2x McEwan's Champion Ale, 2x Theakston Old Peculier). About twice what I planned to have, but this addiction thing is pretty strong, isn't it? One way to keep things under control is only to have a limited amount of alcoholic drinks in the house by the time the supermarkets or off-licences close (eg 6 units, or whatever), but I frequently buy double this amount (usually on a 'special offer'), then kid myself that I'll only drink half of it that evening, and save the rest for another day. Don't know whether your own situation is similar to that, but I think it might be. Whatever, keep up the fight whenever you can, and the best of luck!

Yes, I'm the same. Start off planning to have 4 cans of Guinness (that's all I drink) and end up having 8 or 10 cans.

Got 30 cans of Guinness delivered by Asda last tuesday (cost £33 8O ) which I plan to last me 2 weeks. That would be 27 units a week which is not too bad but will probably drink all 30 cans by the end of the weekend which is 54 units this week. Drinking plenty of coffee so hopefully that will help my liver cope. I'm on 32.4 units so far this week which is a bit better than of late.
