On Sunday I bit into a very crispy potato and a tooth that has always caused me trouble got jarred and I screamed in pain. It has been very painful ever since.

I've been taking paracetamol on and off since, and using a hot wheat bag on my neck and cheek but it hasn't really got better.

By lucky chance I'm going to the dentist today, it was booked months ago, but I'm dreading what he'll say and do to my tooth.

Everything was going so well til this tooth problem...

:( :( :( :( :(

Thank you Mountain Goat. :D Sometimes I just need a human to sympathise with me, I don't have any real life friends.

Meh. Tooth pain is awful. It's never really bad enough to floor you and render you unable to do anything, but still...it's always there and basic stuff like eating, talking, sleeping, so on... it all makes you so very aware of that tooth pain. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Here's hoping the visit to the dentist can provide maximum relief and minimal discomfort.

You said that you needed a human to sympathise with? I thought "I am a human". Is my funny humour.

:P No, I was explaining why I wrote such an attention-seeking post.

There aren't any human friends to sympathise with me in real life so I demand that online humans sympathise with me

thank you, how kind.

It is on and off- sometimes agony, sometimes barely there. It must be a nerve because I can't feel anything wrong with my tooth on the outside... :?

Try Sensodyne toothpaste and Ibuprofen instead of paracetamol.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Tooth pain can be intense enough to drive one to distraction.

Yes. I know. I did not know how best to answer so I used humour. Don't worry. :D

And there are plenty of us in here who are friendly so all is good.

(Isn't your best friend your husband? My Mum said my Dad was her best friend).

Been there , you have my complete sympathy.I had a wisdom tooth crack somehow and the pain was intense.Sort of like an ice pick starting at back of jaw and going up to brain.Nothing phased the pain.Sheer agony till I got to the dentist.
I wanted to beat my head into the wall the pain was so bad, usually pain doesn’t bother me ,but a tooth is a whole different thing.
