I don't know why but this comment from someone in response to somebody asking a question about why would people be concerned with me not wanting to go out on Quora saying well ''I don't know their motivation. Do they think you are being anti-social and can't make friends? Do they think you're introverted and are hiding? Are they trying to get you married so you don't become a cat lady? My motivation would be life is too short to stay inside reading books.
It has left me feeling all I did was ''waste my life'' indulging in hobbies such as reading at home and only going out on occasions to towns near and around where I live while everyone else was going out socialising at bars, getting wasted, having sex, going out to more exciting places etc. I wish sometimes some extroverts didn't make introverts look like they are ''boring'', look like they are ''missing out and wasting their lives'' or ''lesser'' people than they are just because some people go out more than others.
Not everyone is cut out for a loud life. Having a simple life is enough for some people. Everyone is different, but it annoys me too that extroverts think everyone should be like them. Some people have low energy levels and that is okay

Some would argue life is too short to not spend more of it inside reading books.

Somehow that brings this to mind,

Please share with me what you are currently reading! Today I am re-making my home library! I made a home library video about 6 months ago, but since then my husband has made me some custom bookshelves, made with raw wood edges and handcrafted pine. It smells lovely and I am so excited to organize my shelves and give you a bookshelf tour, sharing a bit of my collection. I have a mixture of fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, spiritual books, history books, and classics. I have a collection of poetry and literature from my academic days, but decided that that could make a separate video someday. I hope you enjoy it! Sending much love, Paola "

And mix it up, like while sitting under a tree by a classic babbling brook at an Appalachian Mountains campsite read Frank Herbert's Dune.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say, verbatim.
I was thinking you'd be willing to make that case.

Yep. I do think that the extremes are usually not ones that are worth it. But, some people really are that happy reading books and can contribute whatever they need to contribute to get fed, housed and clothed in the other bits of the time.
Books in particular are great for those times when you are kind of overstimulated and need something to keep your mind sharp while resting.

Life is only wasted when one spends it on wasteful things. Reading a good book leads to knowledge. That process is never a waste of time, regardless what others say about it.
Getting drunk at a party and waking up not remembering what happened the night before is a waste of time. I have a few friends who regret doing just that over and over while in college. It cost them a lot of money, time, and in one instance, child support for 18 years. In retrospect, they wish they could skip that part of their lives, as it was only temporarily fun. At the time, they made fun of me for not joining them. They regret doing that now.

^ I love it on new year's day when I walk out and there's hardly anyone in sight because the majority of adults are nursing their hangovers from the previous night's new year bash. That's probably why January the 1st is a bank holiday, so that most people can party on new year's eve and get a day off the next day (unless you work in a hospital or care home or somewhere).
People and their alcohol. I'm glad I have a mind to call my own.
