Watch something funny, if you are feeling like nothing is going right watching a funny show or movie should help you feel better.

Find an activity you enjoy doing

remind yourself of the things you do right

write a journal about the positive events and experiences you have had in life

accept and look at your faults

build your selfconfidence

I tried that.

I can't do any activities I want to do when I am depressed.

I can't do anything right.

I can't write very well and don't like journals.

I... don't want to look at anything about me.

I can't... this didn't work.

Dammit, I hate this. I am soaking my bed in tears and nothing can help me!

I still don't know what to do when this depression hits me...

It'll pass

I just wish I could get with people without feeling so odd and akward.

The activities listed do help but it gets lonely after a while. I still get suicidal thoughts every now and then but they aren't to a degree that I would do it. It just gets hard to deal with people and also have poor communication skills. I still stumble on words and have trouble processing what I'm about to say.

I've had many people read me the wrong way or take my words out of context. This mainly why I don't communicate with people in general unless I know them real well.

A lot of useful stuff above,thanks-adding my favorites-

A really good book-vanish into,if possible.Engages more than TV or film.

Go out-harder to break down in public.I take my camera-good work done from the emotions running high.
Borrow/buy a digital camera-OK,so I'm obsessed,but its a tool to use.

Hit Bach Flower (or any other brand of) Rescue Remedy HARD until you over the bump-weeks are OK,if you need it.
Helps me deal with side-effects from strong pain killers.
Put it in the water cooler for family freak outs (!)
- please remember to add water and boil down for those who can't have booze-its preserved in brandy-
Works well for Alzhiemer's in relatives. And those who care for them.

Clean up,re-paint,etc-promise yourself a pizza,box of chocs,whatever scratches it,at the end.

Start a new project,if only planning,join a forum for it,make friends..see,it works.... :D

I know its really hard, even to move,sometimes-just talk yourself into it,baby-step-style.

My Declaration of Self-Esteem

I am me

In all the world, there is no one exactly like me. There is no one who
is the unique combination of everything that makes me who I am.

I own everything about me. My body and my mind.
All my thoughts and ideas, all my feelings, whatever they may be -
joy, frustration, love, disappointment, excitement. All that comes
from my mouth, all that I express, all my words and actions are mine.

I own my dreams, my hopes, my fears.

I own all my triumphs and successes, all my failures and mistakes.

As long as I am friendly and loving to myself, I can encourage myself
and I can look for ways to find out more about myself and seek to
adjust the aspects that are not useful or helpful in my process of
being me and becoming me.

As time passes, some parts of me I will outgrow and some parts will
no longer fit with who I am. But always in becoming me I will hold
dear those parts of me that I cherish and are uniquely beautiful,
because they are me.

I can feel, think, say and be. I have what I need to love and be
loved, to be special in the world.

I am me and yet I am becoming me.

I forgive myself for making the mistakes that I did, I put the past behind me and I move on. It's hard at times, but I know that's the best thing for me to do.

I'm finding that giving myself pep talks is helping. In fact, I'm feeling rather cocky.

But hey, I can't help it. Whenever I eat, I burp excellence. 8)

There are many different confidence builders, and making something or doing something soothing can help, but personally I:

Drink whisky.
Eat Steak.
Get laid.
