To the anonymous person who called Crime Stoppers when he or she saw my post about wanting to shoot up a school (but not planning to do it): the joke is on you. Thanks to you, I'm going to get $600 a month in Welfare benefits and after a few moinths, $912 in disability benefits every month, plus $350 for our dependent child so my boyfriend and our son can come up to Canada and we can be together again. I'm also going to get the psychotherapy I wanted to begin with, thanks to you. So the joke is on you. I didn't end up in the SHU like you were hoping.

Who the hell called CrimeStoppers?! Saying that doesn't mean you'd actually DO it, does it?! Some people, eh?

True, it's like if I say "$1,000,000,000 will fall from tha sky!! !! !! !" it don't mean it'll happen!

Congratulations anyway, Ana54!

I love a happy ending!

I wonder if the caller tried to "talk you down" - if they did and you went medieval on them and gave specifics - then I could see calling crime stoppers.

Other than that - its just not cool. GUess we'd better watch our sick senses of humor and flair for hyperboles.

I'm wondering the same thing. Does one have to do with the other?

The cops came and took me to the hospital for an evaluation and I was put in the mental ward for 7 1/2 days. The shrink there and the social worker helped me get welfare and disability. :) Not that I have it yet, but I'm probably going to get it.

If someone called the cops on me without me knowing and they tried to take me to a MH facility, I'm sorry, but I would resist, especially if it was something like above where the caller either was doing it for revenge or kicks or took the whole thing out of proportion. Believe me, I would be invoking amendments left and right, including but not limited to 1st, 5th, 4th, 8th, ... and 2nd  .

This is Canada... but I still have rights, true. But I never even got a copy of the paper explaining my rights, like I did down in the US in a psychiatric hospital there.

I'm writing a book about how badly people were treated in these places and comparing one place to the other. The one in the US was waaaaay better.

I think the joke is that - she proved she wasn't a danger to society and they were able to get her the financial help and medical help she needs. Only in Canada!

Its actually a case where the "system" worked for someone with some mental health issues.

I dont think it would be a wise idea to resist arrest - you'd only be screwing yourself. Sounds as if it was actually a pretty positive experience that rescued her - literally. I doubt they strapped her in a strait jacket and hauled her off in the crazy wagon.

The joke is that the nervous nelly who narced on her got her help and ended up making a jackass of him or herself. Whether they are outed or not - we all know it happened. Not cool.

Who knows - maybe the person will step forward and have the last, last laugh. Kind of like Jack Nicholson in Anger Management. It was all some whacky, big-hearted plot!

It sounds like a case of the The Higher Whatever putting a nuisance to good use.
And welcome to Canada! :D

Yeah - ONLY if you have good insurance. And you must have been in a small town.

I wonder if Ana knows who it was? Maybe she can answer and say if she does or not.
