She didn't get very far but I was very impressed, because she was 10 at the time! We watched a lot of Japanese and Chinese shows, I got as far as being able to tell the difference between spoken Japanese and Chinese, which is good enough for me

That is impressive for a 10yr old!

Yes, I was very surprised and proud of her. When she went on a visit to secondary school, she asked if they had a Japanese club and joined that. She is very proactive.

Well that's good. And quite surprising seeing as I'm expecting Pootin to blow up the world any moment!

With Now TV, you have access to all the sky movies.

Amazon Prime has a few films up that I've been wanting to watch. They have a few decent series too, but I've not yet browsed as I've been too occupied with films on Nowtv.

They got the new Spiderman, Batman and Ghostbusters on there!

Well some good news in the grim world.

For Christmas:

I bought two DIY tools for my husband. I don't know what they are but he pointed them out.

I bought a microwaveable wheat bag for my friend because she has neck and back pain.

My son doesn't need to come home from AUS for surgery.
He doesn't have insurance there yet, and his is cancelled here.
It would have meant at least a year here at home, to get it reinstated and go through the steps.
He would have lost his AUS work visa (and his home, job, partner, car ... )

His boss paid for him to see a specialist there.
Crisis averted.

Doing my orientation for a part time class in film set construction this evening!

Also, just bought myself a new to me vehicle - a JDM Toyota van.

And Friday night I was able to visit my deceased friend’s mom & meet his daughter. For the third year running I handed mama $600 to make sure his 2 girls have a good Christmas. 8)

Today is my oldest nephew’s 17th birthday. (Or 18?)

I got to see one of my 15yo God son’s yesterday evening for a late night bbq dinner. 8)

My dad’s cancer/heart condition is def gonna kill him, BUT despite doing another round of chemo rn he feels totally fine which is AMAZING!

My uncle said I could park my car at his house for the winter if I need storage for it before I sell it. And I might not need to find a buyer as my neighbour said one of her kids might be interested - in which case I told her I’ll sell it for $1000 less than whatever people are asking for them in the moment, which I’m totally cool with because my neighbours have been so amazing to my parents for the last 15 years.

I have concert tickets to Merkules @ The Commodore Ballroom this Friday night! BEST local rapper at arguably The Best live music venue in Vancouver. 8)

Probably more if I really stop to think about it, but those things come to mind right now. Grateful for this thread to remind me of what’s going well!

What a relief! What a lovely boss! Some people are nice.
