My son brought me a huge bag of pecans from South Arkansas.So delicious.

King Alfred Daffodils and Forsythia.Good pairing since they bloom at same time.

I remember forsythia from my childhood home and how my mother delighted in them. We would also drive to the Morton Arboretum where there were swathes of naturalized daffodils.

I have good fruit development on the Pickering and Jean Ellen mangos and moderate fruiting on the Maha, which is the best flavored. If I do get a lot of Jean Ellen I’ll make a lot of chutney.

Ate a couple dozen red jaboticaba berries yesterday.

It seems like it’s more dependable to get fresh fruit there.Another late cold snap last night ,right when the pears trees were blooming.Not sure if there will be any fruit this year on the trees.
Bridal wreath spirea and japonica ( flowering quince) also in bloom.
The weather has been fluctuating from warm to cold and rain.Need to get my potatoes out, people usually plant on Saint Patrick’s day here.

One of my garden goals has been to have fresh fruit year round. A demanding work life is constantly interrupting. But - ta dah - I retire April 1. Garden, here I come!

I also loved the spirea growing all over the neighborhood where I grew up. Your posts, Misslizard, are a trip down a pleasant memory lane.

Where_am_I, I would post more pictures if it weren’t so time consuming. I have to be on my desktop computer and have time to upload to Imgur, mess around with entering links, etc.

This is the vernal equinox; the first day of spring

Stove pipe type daffodil.I don’t know the name.I call it Corae after the friend the start came from.

The rain bent some of the stems so I picked a bouquet for everyone here.

Thalia, the Orchid daffodil.Beautiful, fragrant and a great naturalizer.Perfect for moonlight gardens.

The snakes are out.

I found my hand pruners!! ! In one of the sheds.Breaking ground now to plant my early seedlings.Lettuce, green peas, kale, Chinese cabbage, collards and onions.
Found volunteer cilantro growing.
Saw a Tiger swallowtail butterfly the other day.Honeybees out and about.
Redbud in bloom now.Dogwood will be next.
Saw a adorable little striped garter snake.
Tick quest every evening.
Trying to germinate Miss Wilmotts Ghost.
Seems tricky, may just have to buy the plant.

Planted a load of veggie seeds a week or so ago. Just been out to water them and a couple of spinach plants are showing already. Very exciting. I've got lots of construction and preparation to do in the veggie garden though, I've not grown there for 2 or 3 seasons and nature has reclaimed it...

I don't have a garden, just a concrete communal yard - but I do have indoor plants, including orchids.
