They put nitrous oxide in cans of whipped to make it fluffy when you spray it because oxygen or carbon dioxide would curdle the cream. I've only had to tell my mother maybe 20 times that if she uses the canned stuff instead of mixing it in a bowl like she normally does she should not spray it on a dessert she's not serving right away, like a whole pie, because it turns back into a liquid in an hour or less.

I read they also use it to inflate bags of potato chips. I've also read they put put air in the bags to keep the chips from getting broken into tiny pieces inside, but I think they really just want to use use less chips. I mean those "family size" bags are such a joke. A family of two people, maybe. Or all but one family member doesn't like chips. But I've digressed.
