i had to do a 3D model of my head in Intro to 3D class last year using Maya 7.0.. pain in the butt.. but turned out well. course, it was modeled to be rigged and animated... but still. anyways, i've never used ZBrush.. but some of my classmates have it. i think i'll add it to the list of programs i want but will never be able to afford.. lol.
It isn't the same as Maya, it's more like modeling with clay. Download the 30-day trial and try it out!

It is much more easy than Maya, 3D SMax or anything else that I have tried in my life! i've learned how to use it in less than 4 days. it only takes an hour or two to make a head from a round ball. It's very fun too, as you can make funny faces and everything you want very fast.
so literally its like carving it out of clay with your touchpad?

i love modeling with clay..
i think i will download the trail... but i'll wait to do it til i have more time to actually use it.. i'd hate to waste it.
