I love my cat.

It's the one on the right

And that's her with her adoptive sister, a rescue kitten who is also my current forum avatar:

They'll both be two years old in March (I picked the rescue because she was about the same age as my Scottish Fold), and they're still cute as two buttons

GUHHH SO CUTE.
I guess that's a problem. You could also I guess take them along. It's crazy but my mom who use to travel a lot did that. She'd tell us stories about how she'd sneak her cats in motels and hotels. Frankly I don't know how she did it. One of them, Smeagel, a Siamese cat always went on trips with her and my dad. I guess he was adept to it.

Kitties!
I love my kitty. She's amazing. She helps with meltdowns and makes sure I'm not alone when am in pain and tells me when I have migraines and lots of things like those.
I got her on December 31st at just over a year old. She was by far the most attention grabbing cat in the shelter of all of them, but lots of the other people were overlooking her 'cause they wanted to give people Christmas kittens instead of Christmas adult cats. She'd only been in the shelter for a few days though.
She's a kitty who loves computers - lies on them even when people aren't around them - and loves lying next to people and chirping at them to pet her. She's getting spoiled. She gets the food and litter that I can get that are best for her, rather than cheaper brands, despite me not having the money to do it (my parents give me what I need for money, but its harsh on my self esteem to rely on them), because my kitty is so important.

Oh my goodness she looks so much like my cat, Calypso!

Good for you. People are most likely going to adopt kittens. With adults it's much harder. I use to volunteer at an animals shelter. One cat in particular, Bill who had been there for the longest was nameless and about a couple of years old. If I hadn't got him, he would've most likely been put down. His personality....like Calypso's is what made me get him. They really do help with stress and make life much more manageable imo.

I love my cat as well. She snuggled with me last night, but eventually moved onto something else. Either way, she's a sweet girl.

I got her from a no-kill shelter, so she wouldn't have been put down, but yeah. Rather than getting a little 8 week old cat, I was looking for a cat between 4 months and 2 years old. I didn't want it so young that it wouldn't be as happy without a friend-kitty in a small apartment, but I didn't want it so old that it'd have a shorter lifespan with me.
However, the shelter I got her from was limited intake, in order to deal with the fact that they're no-kill, so the fact that I adopted her meant that they had room to take in another adult cat that otherwise would have ended up in a kill-shelter, so I got to get an amazing cat for me and probably save another cat's life at the same time.
Yeah. Choosing cats based off of personality instead of anything else makes complete sense. I had some preferences that were not personality based (I wanted a young, larger, female cat), but those all had other reasons that were not "they look better", and none of them would have trumped if I had found the right cat for me that didn't meet those criteria.
Luckily I found one that met them and had the right personality. She's a year old (so has a nice long life expectancy with me), 11 lbs (cats that are 10-20 lbs without being overweight work better for me than those that are 7 lbs for some reason. I like the smaller ones, but they don't help me as much), female (females don't spray and produce less allergens, both important for a cat that might live in pet-free housing), and has a great personality.
She's incredibly alert (seriously, I've never met a cat as alert as she is), playful, very friendly, and very much bonded to me. She's very smart, comes when I call, goes out of her way to do things for me, and impressed my parents with how much she's my cat when I'd had her for less than a month.
The only reason I don't volunteer at the shelter I got her from is that I can't get there via the buses. I refuse to volunteer at a shelter that'll kill cats, I'd be unable to cope with that. Volunteering at a shelter is one of the things my therapist has tried to get me to do, but we found out that's not an option with my current transportation options.
