I like the look of some "Steam Punk" movies.

Deliberate anachronism in technolgy: mixed Victorian era steam power tech with visions of the future in a surreal way.

There were a few films that were steam punk even before the term was invented (like Terry Gilliam's "Brasil", in the Eighties).

I think there were a few.

Interesting music.

Has a middle eastern flavor.

But I dont see why its called "steam punk".

np,
I think the steampunk music genre is called 'steampunk' because it is eclectic of other musical traditions, in the same way that steampunk style is eclectic of repurposed material. From wikipedia: Influences include gothic, industrial, synth-pop, dark wave, and new wave, but there are also hints of orchestral, ragtime, cabaret, Indian, gypsy, folk, and traditional klezmer music. The 'punk' part just denotes that it was originated by a disenfranchised youth culture, looking for a new way to express themselves. It doesn't sound like actual 'punk' music.

I think the Nautilus from 20000 Leagues Under The Sea was the father of steampunk.

I was thinking that too.

Disney's bringing to life of Jules Verne's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" resulted in a steam punk type movie way back in the Sixties.

Any movie based upon classic sci fi of the 19th century would have a steam punk feel.

I like the steampunk look. I have a few steampunk knives/blades, a steampunk replica skull with gas mask on, a steampunk replica skull that looks like it's made of nuts & bolts, & I have a display replica steampunk quantum cannon that I would love to use in a video-game. I got em off BudK. I couldn't link the images from them so here's a search page I just did of Steampunk on there  https://www.budk.com/Search.aspx?search=steampunk
The knives/blades I have didn't show up on this search so IDK if BudK still has em or if they need to be searched for differently. I kinda like the steampunk pocket watch too but don't know if I'll get it or not. Maybe one day when I'm ordering something else & if I get a good deal.

All steam locomotives are already "steam punk" ( by definition). I would think.

I associate "Steam punk" with a style of movies.

But a lot of décor in stores.like World Market, here in the USA, come to think of it, would be classified as "non functional steam punk" . Big whimsical clock faces, and exposed pipes that don't do anything.

What I like is the creativity and tallent about it. What I like less is where people copy each other.
