they make the powerchairs... i sell the powerchairs... they ship the powerchairs to my office... i give them to my clients... they see they are running out of powerchairs... they tweak their processes to make more powerchairs faster and more efficient yet lower cost...

Pretty interesting thread here, even though I'm by all means what you call a "walkie".

When I see someone in an electrical wheel chair around here, the things are seemingly designed to "scream out" that they are an aid for handicapped people. Nothing there to suggest that the user might just be a gadget-lover who find it easier or more fun to get around town this way rather than walking. And then there's the limited speed -- for the sake of all powerchair users, I sincerely wish that a superconductor could be developed to work at "normal" ambient temperatures: This would radically revolutionize the power-to-size ratio of both electrical batteries and motors.

As for that sip and puff head-gear -- at first glance the uninitiated just might think it's for use by astronauts or fighter pilots or something like that! And who knows, with a bit of perseverance it may even be used to allow any kind of -plegic to pilot an aircraft... 8)

hehehe scrammy... no problem in being a walkie.

the TDX line at invacare kind of broke the mold on "disabled" look. especially the TDX-SP until you see a high rez photo the low rez does not cut it, really shows speed, character, functionality all packed into one smaller faster more efficient package.

Image

it all depends on what kind of components you have on it too... no thats not my TDX-SP... mine arrives in 2-3 weeks! however still if you compare the TDX-SP to another powerchair other than the invacare TDX line expect the other one to carry a huge "disabled" look.

exactly but what id like to do is change the way people look at powerchairs by creating "super speed" ones for able bodied walkies to avoid more people getting cars when they are not needed, some people dont really go outside of a 50 mile range from their house, work back home some shopping, and a car is not needed at that point. it would be the perfect Zero Emissions Vehicle and would also relieve roadway congestion. superconductors would be a great idea for powerchairs really get that speed going.

i will progressively loose use of my arms too so head array air plane would be fun... also head array rocket ship :D
