The McDonald's Thread
(old thread back)
I like McDonald's. When I first came to this foreign country, where I live now, I was so happy to find a familiar place.
Even now I go there very often not so much for burgers but for their coffee (McCafe). I love the atmosphere. Easy, relaxing. I often sit for an hour or so, just reading a book etc. I even studied for my exams etc at McDonald's before.
I have to say the staff are not very efficient or trained well in this country. They make mistakes all the time and make me wait unnecessarily. I have to be watching them make my coffee because they may do it wrongly. An experienced staff member once told me I had to order a burger and coffee separately at the main counter and at the cafe counter because she didn't know how to operate the cash register. Also once I got a hot latte when I ordered an iced latte and the girl who made the latte said she didn't know that a latte can be cold despite the fact that it's in the menu. These are just a few examples.
I never thought about the salads being more expensive, but the OP is right. I've always thought McDonald's is a "junk food" place. So I never really expected salads any way. Big Mac tastes quite all right. Their hot apple pie is actually very tasty. Fries are not bad.
Here in this country the tables and seats are filthy most of the time. The customers seem to be very poorly mannered. After all it's a cheap place. Spills, oily marks and pieces of food on the tables, seats and floor.
I don't really have an opinion about the commercials.
