Actually, MM-DD-YYYY is the convention here.

At that moment, I was looking at the clock and saying to my kids, "It's 1-2-3-4!" I didn't know about the date, though.

It reminds me of my crazy cat lady grandmother who I never knew. We got the phone call saying she died at 12:34 on the 5th day of the 6th month, 1978.
