Does anyone know if the Red Cross has any programs set up to get help to these poor folks? Or do they use the other relief agency (Red Crescent?)? :(

Eventually the fires will run out of fuel. The olive trees will be back, thicker, bigger and better within five years.

shows how much i know lol.

Anyways. In the states the Red Cross gets slammed a lot because they have one of the lowest donation percentages of just about any non-profit organization. During the Hurricane Katrina relief a frew groups did studies and found the Red Cross was the worse organization in terms of donation/operations. 83 cents of every dollar donated to Red Cross goes to operational costs (paid staff, lawyers, property, equipment, advertisements etc etc). Where as just about every other major relief fund was around the opposite, only around 20 cents of every dollar was going to operational costs. Though the reach and capabilities of an organization like Red Cross are humongous, you will be doing more good to contact local government who will always give you names of local organizations that are all volunteer run and who typically have virtually no operational costs so 100% of your donations count.

The Greeks are Catholics, Nan. (Greek orthodox.) :P As for helping them, I don't know if they have any programs for forest fires. I doubt it...

A UN relief agency then, if not the RC? They appear to be in a lot of trouble. I can't seem to find anywhere that says they are taking donations to help the victims.
