I work at a place with about 200 other employees (most of whom I've never met). Every year, there is a Xmas dinner for the staff.
I hadn't heard anything about it yet, and vaguely wondered when it would be. I came into work today at the usual time, and didn't see anybody around. I was working away, when my friend came in with a plate of food. The conversation went like this:
"Did you go downstairs for the free food?"
"What free food?"
"The Xmas dinner was today!"
"I haven't heard anything about Xmas dinner! Did you get an e-mail about it?"
"Yeah."
I didn't get an e-mail, nor a flyer in my mailbox, which apparently everyone else got; there were no signs posted in the kitchen or mail room like every other year, and no one mentioned that it was going to be held today.
I went downstairs, and there was part of a turkey leg, and half a spoon of sweet potatoes, and dessert.
It looks like I am the only person who knew nothing of it.
At least I got some pie.
No wonder I feel like a non-entity at this place... it's because I am.
